This is the watershed moment where things need to change.

This was posted one day after my friend — one of Minnesota’s elected representatives — and her husband were assassinated in a politically-motivated attack. One day after another elected representative and his wife took 17 bullets from the assassin.

We cannot accept this from a sitting United States Senator. Everyone – on both sides of the aisle – needs to condemn this.

We cannot normalize political violence in America.

That would be the impact if the Trump-Vance federal funding freeze goes through. @MissionsIncProg relies on federal support for one-third of its domestic violence support services. Cuts like these leave survivors with nowhere to turn.

I had the opportunity to visit Missions Inc. Programs, a Minnesota-based domestic violence program that provides housing, emergency shelter, and supportive services for survivors of domestic abuse and individuals in recovery from substance use disorders.

A heartfelt thank you to the Missions Inc. Programs staff for welcoming me and sharing so openly about the devastating impact Trump’s federal funding freeze could have on the survivors they support. Your work is critical, and it was an honor to hear your stories.
