I'm not in Nashville but reports of what went down re. trans/non-binary artists being disrespected makes me wanna say the obvious, which @_love_holly_ + others live every day: intersectional thinking/action takes work if you're coming from a position of privilege. Work we must do
“Everyone can see what's going on/They laugh because they know they're untouchable/Not because what I said was wrong/Whatever it may bring/I will live by my own policies/I will sleep with a clear conscience/I will sleep in peace/Maybe it sounds mean/But I really don't think so/You asked for the truth and I told you”
I don’t deny my white privilege. I wake up every morning with it, and tuck it into bed with me every night.
But I see the injustice of this world, and it burns me with the heat of a thousand suns.
@Jason_Aldean is dangerous and vile. And has a platform to perpetuate his hate.
I’m so thankful there are others who can speak to this much more eloquently than I can. My gift is to share it with you.
.@AdeemTheArtist: "As far as I can tell, the only culture war in country is between people who believe in a just, equitable world with space for all of us to feel welcome and those of us so afraid of anything different, they’re willing to sing about hate crimes.” @Variety
Dear @Delta - can you please get someone at the Atlanta Airport baggage services to send my cymbals to nashville? I have talked to 5 different people and yet they haven’t moved for 24 hours. It’s really hard for me to work without my instrument.
