@John_The_Fitter @christianwolmar We live in hope. Privatisation saw a huge increase in passenger numbers but the industry became very fragmented - not good for efficient working. The government has announced a plan to reintegrate the railway and form Great British Railways but this seems to have stalled.
@GemmaATweets If they had brought a tin of beans you would really have moaned about that. You don't know what donations they may have made behind the scenes.
@John_The_Fitter @christianwolmar Neither party has served our railways well: Harold Wilson continued with the Beeching cuts and both promoted HS2. Labour won't tackle the unions who seem determined to wreck the railway.
Sins of Our Fathers.
Here's my stance.
Our great country has been the greatest gift this world has ever received.
Railways, engineering, medicines, internet I could go on and on.
We need to stop apologising and start praising our history 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thoughts with David Holden, his family & friends today as he faces sentencing as part of the repulsive witch hunt against our veterans, waged relentlessly by PSNI & PPS to appease republicans who benefit from an amnesty for their terrorism.
@sean_uk@kelvmackenzie@GBNEWS Whatever you say about it Sean McGrath, GB News is hardly a flop and it's generally not boring, apart from the ads (especially the self promotion ones - worse on the radio).
@johnredwood Surely it's pointless to make a statement like this now that construction of HS2 is well under way - and there was all party agreement that it was needed. If the plug's pulled now there'll be a chain of white elephants up and down the route.
@theRCN Strikes don't protect patients. Negotiation is the only way. Clearly pay needs to be higher to encourage new recruits and ease the pressure but strikes - no way.
@MartinS195656 @Nevererdofher @wesstreeting As a full-time and unpaid carer I find all this quite sickening. My dear wife, who I'm carer to, finds it absolutely frightening.
