As the #ParisOlympics begin, millions of women and girls in Afghanistan are being denied the right to education and sports.
The Taliban need to end these abuses and reverse the restrictions on women's basic rights. #Paris2024
In sport, the players are involved in two immense contests: the one we all see on the field, and the other which occurs off it. I have spent three decades helping the players be competitive off the field and, in so doing, become better people and help shape their industry and communities for the better.
After 8 years as Executive Director of @WorldPlayersUtd and three decades in helping build the Australian and international player association movements, I recently founded Schwab Legal to act for a range of Australian and international clients with a focus on sport, labour and human rights.
I look forward to continuing to work with great people and organizations to effectively advance causes I have dedicated my career to. In particular, I aim to leverage and advance my experience, knowledge and expertise to assist clients:
- undertake ‘big picture’ strategy, reform, bargaining, and advocacy
- resolve the 'black letter' detail of complex negotiations, dispute resolution, research, and policy
- realise justice and fairness
I also look forward to sharing insights from the intersection of sport, labour and human rights, with a focus on leadership, leverage and learning.

.@FrancisAwartefe is Nigerian, of Urhobo extraction. He is British, from London, where he was born. And he is also Australian. And a former @Socceroos player. And a former vice-president of @FIFPRO. And yet, the current chairman of #Aus’s @thepfa, tells me there is nothing remarkable about himself. Can you imagine that? 😂
I am having a 60-minute @XSpaces session with him on Tuesday 15th August at 1800 Sydney time/0900 Nigerian time, where he will talk all things ⚽️. Don’t miss it.
Our family lost a giant on Friday with the passing of @Meggsiola legendary, beloved and loving father, Tommy. Deepest sympathies to Judy, Janine and Tommy’s much loved and loving hoard of grandchildren. Tommy epitomized humility and care❤️💙🤍💙

👏 Australians want to see change. Co-Chair Craig Foster speaks on today's Coronation and how we're looking at the British Monarchy in a more truthful manner. #DemocracyNotMonarchy#AusPol#AusRepublic
@GaryLineker At first glance I read this as Cristiano Ronaldo of Venice and Messi of Empire…🤪The Bard definitely worth a re-read with those two historic figures in mind. 📖⚽️🤣
Happy New Year!
As we welcome in 2023 - let’s make this the year where we as Australians take the next step in our nationhood, and come together to ‘Vote Yes’ and enshrine a First Nations Voice to Parliament.

Presenting William Blandowski etchings, 1857 of Aboriginal kids juggling to @Pele
'A group of children is playing with a ball.. It is not thrown or hit with a bat, but is kicked up in the air with a foot. The aim of the game – never let the ball touch the ground.'
RIP #Pele
