God (YHWH) tells Adam and Eve not to eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, warning that “in the day you eat of it, you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:17).

The serpent then tells Eve that she won’t die, but that if she eats it, her “eyes will be opened” and she’ll “be like God, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:4–5).

Eve eats, gives some to Adam, and their eyes are opened.

SO…the god character lied, oppressed and punished innocent people.

The serpent was telling the truth and trying to enlighten and free the people.
