Conducted from 21–24 June, the programme strengthened the capacity of Customs officers in the effective operation of X-ray scanning equipment
The equipment was officially handed over by U.S. Embassy Regional Security Advisor Mr. Mihyar O. Alnifaidy and UNODC Head of Office in the Maldives Mr. Enrico Boninsegna, and received on behalf of the Maldives Customs Service by Deputy Commissioner Ibrahim Mafaaz.
Ahead of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (26 June), the Maldives Customs Service received Drug Testing Equipment generously donated by UNODC, comprising 50 Drug Testing Kits and one FTIR Kit.

Some clicks from the field visit to the passenger terminal by participants of the “UNODC-PCCP High-risk Passenger Targeting Training ,” as part of their practical sessions.
The opening session included remarks by Chief Guest, Commissioner General Fathimath Dhiyana, UNODC Head of Office in the Maldives, Mr. Enrico Boningsena and Assistant Commissioner of Police Yoonus Sobah.
The five-day programme covers risk psychology, behavioural indicators, concealment methods, API/PNR & pre-arrival risk assessment, alongside decision-making, legal aspects and practical skills in interviewing, search & profiling to strengthen detection and enforcement capacity.
The UNODC–WCO PCCP Training Programme is currently underway, bringing together 20 officers from key law enforcement agencies namely, Customs, Police, Aviation Security Command and Immigration.
