The brutal killing of three individuals by Kuki assailants in the Haotak area of Wangoo yesterday on January 10, 2024, exposes a disturbing depth of barbarism ingrained in their psyche. This was not just a tragic event; it was a calculated and cold-blooded murder of four unarmed individuals innocently gathering firewood for their livelihood.

Out of the four missing persons, three lifeless bodies have been recovered, leaving one still unaccounted for. The victims include a father and son, leaving behind a shattered family with a grieving mother and a four-month-old daughter.

While I refrain from solely blaming the Kuki individuals for this inhumane act, it is imperative that they do not exploit a victim narrative in the aftermath of any future violence. The prevailing security arrangements have undeniably failed, and the role of the security advisor over the past eight months during this tumultuous period has been utterly ineffective, with no discernible signs of improvement.

Compounding the distress is the disturbing spectacle of Kuki armed personnel gleefully celebrating the killing of four villagers, shamelessly broadcasting it on social media to provoke the Meetei people. Amid this macabre display, the state government remains a passive spectator.

The glaring inadequacy of the 70,000-strong central forces deployed in the state raises questions about their effectiveness in preserving civilian lives and property. Perhaps it's time to reconsider their presence and empower the state government to handle the situation. The alarming absence of law and order in Kuki-infiltrated hill areas poses a grave threat to Manipur. These regions resemble rogue districts, with elected representatives, civil society organizations, and narco-terrorist groups rallying together in aggressive opposition to the Meetei and Manipur government, all transpiring under the indifferent gaze of the central government. Immediate and comprehensive intervention is imperative to avert further jeopardy in Manipur.

No Ningolchakouba, perhaps one of the biggest festive moments in Manipur, and a black-lightless Diwali...More than 70000 displaced people who become homeless and refugees in their own homeland overnight, and 175 plus deaths, and still counting...

In the midst of all these, distributing sweets.. ladoo, celebratory smiles and laughter... for some election results in far away places!? And talking about sending two party MPs from the state in the coming election?

That's some kind of sensibility, decency and gut should one say sheer insensitivity, indecency and arrogance!

No one denies that celebrating success is normally expected. But it's about time and place. Afterall, the 'ningols' didn't have 'Ningolchakouba' for the first time in the history of the land, and people switched off lights on Diwali speak volumes!

#Kuki_Terrorists have gunned down 13 Meitei youth in cold blood on December 4th.

The massacre happened at the Leithao village in Tengnoupal district close to the Burmese Border.

None of the victims have been identified and no weapons had been recovered from the ambush site.

Some are calling this a second Nadimarg massacre of Kashmir where the youth were rounded up and murd€r€d in cold blood.

While others are calling them Burma based Meitei militants who got ambushed.
