Sydney rogue. Subversive. Hermit like.
Of all the photographers’ work we’ve shared, Bill Brandt’s has always stood out for me.
This poignant scene of children caught in a pocket of light against a dark, brooding industrial background has long been a personal favourite.
Halifax, 1937 by Bill Brandt (1904-1983)
@itswords_ Anyone who says this was never given a life sentence from a catastrophic event as a child,
learning lessons were mere trifles compared to what us care leavers suffered.
@EddyJokovich Trying to appease all sides has weakened his reputation,
If one doesn't take a stand,
If they continue to move the goalposts of their fundamental principles & their character suffers the loss of credibility,
for what? To appease those detractors who already despise him.
@thebigjohnnyd My theory is he's like that because he grew up in housing commission & to assuage an inferiority complex, feels he has to suck up to his establishment peers to put them at ease that he's really one of them.
As someone who grew up in housing too, his sycophancy is disappointing
@MayNotBeJoking@MzSgtPepper@EricTrump This is the typical mindset of those who lust for power drenched brutality ..& the old days of archaic colonialism to crush dissention
@OutlawsPoetic The nihilist in me thinks this isn't a bad thing,
humans have exponentially laid waste to everything in their path,
to the extinction of species far more beautiful than us,
superlative ego think that we're more deserving to exist over all the natural world propels our downfall
@RCVic@the_transit_guy True, the amount of junkets our pollies have been on to 'study' high speed overseas models over the decades is insane,
at this rate I'd settle for a consistent working internet on the 10 hour trip it takes to see the relo's lol
