@MichaelRosenYes P.S…….definitely not a hornpipe. Hornpipes are in simple time (beats subdivide into 2), and have an even number of beats in each bar (usually 4).

@MichaelRosenYes The 6/8 metre (compound, where each beat subdivides into groups of 3 rather than 2), is jig-like. The modal tonality (not straightforward major/minor) is reminiscent of folk music (trad. jigs, reels, etc.). Basically, it’s just Zimmer magnificence…he’s musically referencing.

@SCatlingAuthor @MichaelRosenYes I believe it’s notated in 6/8, but very much has a 3/4 feel to it. If you listen to the intro, the 6/8 is clearer with a driving crotchet-quaver rhythm. The 3/4 effect is as a result of the syncopation across the two beats (compound time). That’s what makes it so exciting!

@CBeebiesHQ Wait until the child is ready. I ignored the judgements of people telling me my daughter should “surely be out of nappies by now”, and then it happened pretty much overnight, with no accidents or mess to clear up. She was nearly 4, but I don’t care! It was an easy transition.
