Sunday reading question for adult fantasy lovers: What's a book that made you believe in heroism again? I'm looking for that perfect balance of literary beauty and genuine hope. #BookTwitter#AdultFantasy#ComfortReads
@belet_seri How 'bout the dog? Did the dog deserve to die?
But seriously? Where are we now that we're inventing moral justifications for the murder of children? That's enough social media for me today.
@jon_cronshaw I'm team "classic" fantasy. Lord of the Rings is one I re-watch whenever I'm stressed. And I reread the book every other year. I enjoyed The Witcher video game, though.
Getting to live a life without fear of your embarrassing moment becoming the laughingstock of the world. Forget just having your friends laugh at you; now people around the globe can gleefully revel in your most awkward, embarrassing moments.
It's cliche, but high school. They weren't terrible years; they weren't good years. High school simply happened. It was hyped up as this time of "coming-of-age experiences," and it really didn't deliver. College was much more meaningful and formative for me.
I remember the hate I got for writing in first person (I still role my eyes at the person who said I only wrote in 1st person because I need more life experience).
And now we're hating on 3rd person?
I can't wait until people find out 2nd person exists.
@SoCal_Chemistry I get this. My grandma's first language was Spanish, and she'd talk with extended family in it. I regret that, while I can ready and write Spanish, I've never become proficient in speaking it. I wish I'd asked her to speak with me in it to help me gain experience and confidence.
@SoCal_Chemistry Wait...it sounds like you already know a language (or at least mostly know one). Being able to speak Korean is awesome! Brushing up on that might help give you confidence to try other languages.
@SoCal_Chemistry Do you know other languages already, or will this be your second? For a lot of people (but not everybody), learning languages becomes easier after the second or third. It also helps if you know a related language already.
@belet_seri In fairness, the post he's replying to sounds like a woman who is suffering from post partum depression. The weight gain is probably not what the husband should be worried about.
