I'm seeing quite a bit of comment about this, so I want to make a couple of points.
I'm not owed eternal agreement from any actor who once played a character I created. The idea is as ludicrous as me checking with the boss I had when I was twenty-one for what opinions I should hold these days.
Emma Watson and her co-stars have every right to embrace gender identity ideology. Such beliefs are legally protected, and I wouldn't want to see any of them threatened with loss of work, or violence, or death, because of them.
However, Emma and Dan in particular have both made it clear over the last few years that they think our former professional association gives them a particular right - nay, obligation - to critique me and my views in public. Years after they finished acting in Potter, they continue to assume the role of de facto spokespeople for the world I created.
When you've known people since they were ten years old it's hard to shake a certain protectiveness. Until quite recently, I hadn't managed to throw off the memory of children who needed to be gently coaxed through their dialogue in a big scary film studio. For the past few years, I've repeatedly declined invitations from journalists to comment on Emma specifically, most notably on the Witch Trials of JK Rowling. Ironically, I told the producers that I didn't want her to be hounded as the result of anything I said.
The television presenter in the attached clip highlights Emma's 'all witches' speech, and in truth, that was a turning point for me, but it had a postscript that hurt far more than the speech itself. Emma asked someone to pass on a handwritten note from her to me, which contained the single sentence 'I'm so sorry for what you're going through' (she has my phone number). This was back when the death, rape and torture threats against me were at their peak, at a time when my personal security measures had had to be tightened considerably and I was constantly worried for my family's safety. Emma had just publicly poured more petrol on the flames, yet thought a one line expression of concern from her would reassure me of her fundamental sympathy and kindness.
Like other people who've never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she's ignorant of how ignorant she is. She'll never need a homeless shelter. She's never going to be placed on a mixed sex public hospital ward. I'd be astounded if she's been in a high street changing room since childhood. Her 'public bathroom' is single occupancy and comes with a security man standing guard outside the door. Has she had to strip off in a newly mixed-sex changing room at a council-run swimming pool? Is she ever likely to need a state-run rape crisis centre that refuses to guarantee an all-female service? To find herself sharing a prison cell with a male rapist who's identified into the women's prison?
I wasn't a multimillionaire at fourteen. I lived in poverty while writing the book that made Emma famous. I therefore understand from my own life experience what the trashing of women's rights in which Emma has so enthusiastically participated means to women and girls without her privileges.
The greatest irony here is that, had Emma not decided in her most recent interview to declare that she loves and treasures me - a change of tack I suspect she's adopted because she's noticed full-throated condemnation of me is no longer quite as fashionable as it was - I might never have been this honest.
Adults can't expect to cosy up to an activist movement that regularly calls for a friend's assassination, then assert their right to the former friend's love, as though the friend was in fact their mother. Emma is rightly free to disagree with me and indeed to discuss her feelings about me in public - but I have the same right, and I've finally decided to exercise it.
@BasseyIsrael4@GeneralMCNews And some white people are. There's good and bad in every group of people whether it's race, gender, or any other of the millions of ways you can categorize people. ✌🏼
And we see the entitled, bratty, tantruming little Veruca Salts who believe that only they, and those who share their luxury beliefs, should be permitted to publish books.
Once again, the couragous @jonahowheeler , a democrat from New Hampshire speaks truth to power and votes to protect children from harmful interventions. No one is born in the wrong body!
@TommyS24999083 @WhiteHouse@POTUS I think no tax on OT is great! If you're doing 20+ hours of OT and want to cry when you see the gross vs. net income you would too. I absolutely believe there should be none on social security, but honestly only if you're over 60
🚨A Hamilton County Deputy was murdered today.🚨
Not by accident. Not in a moment of chaos. But targeted—ambushed and killed while directing traffic at the University of Cincinnati commencement ceremony.
And here’s what should outrage every decent person:
The driver who hit and killed that deputy was the father of the thug who fled from Cincinnati Police yesterday —armed with a gun—and was shot and killed by CPD.
Let that sink in.
Instead of taking accountability for his son’s criminal actions, this father chose revenge. He got in his car and intentionally drove into a deputy simply because he wore a badge.
Where was this father yesterday, when his son was running wild with a gun?
Where was his outrage when that kid endangered lives and forced officers into a deadly encounter?
This is bigger than one family.
This is about a culture that defends criminals and demonizes the cops trying to stop them.
This is evil. And it’s unacceptable.
💔 And this one hurts.
I knew this deputy. He was one of a kind. A cop’s cop. The kind of guy who made you proud to do this job. He deserved better—his family deserved better.
⚠️Enough is enough.
👮♂️To my brothers and sisters in uniform:
⚠️Stay sharp. Stay focused. Stay ready.
🎯The uniform makes you a target—but your training, awareness, and mindset keep you alive.
🫱🏼🫲🏽Watch each other’s backs.
😔Don’t get complacent.
This job is more dangerous than ever, but we still show up—for each other and the people who depend on us.
🕊️ We owe it to ourselves, our families, and the memory of our fallen to keep fighting the right way.
BREAKING NEWS:
Marc Thurston, the husband of California U.S. District Court Judge Jennifer L. Thurston, just DELETED the 3 Instagram videos I exposed that were on his instagram account, in which he attacked President Trump’s mass deportation and immigration policies, and spoke about how deporting illegals was bad for his business as a multi-family real estate broker, since so many illegals in California live in multi-family Units.
Judge Thurston is the California judge who just ruled that President Trump’s administration can’t arrest any more illegal aliens unless they have a warrant for their arrest.
Her husband is a multifamily real estate broker in California, and the judge failed to disclose her financial conflict of interest via her husband’s job.
Judge Thurston’s husband deleting his 3 Instagram posts is evidence that he knows the conflict is real, and now he’s trying to cover it up.
Judge Thurston must RECUSE herself from overseeing President Trump’s case.
‼️PROBLEM IN PENNSYLVANIA‼️
CC: Scranton, PA
Today, a Republican voter received his mail-in ballot for Lackawanna County.
There’s only one problem: the ballot is dated 2024 & is from LAST year’s presidential primary.
We’ve heard from several other Republican voters that they also received a ballot from LAST year.
How many voters received the wrong ballot? Why is this only happening to Republicans? How did no one from the Lackawanna County Board of Elections catch this mistake?
It’s worth noting that this is a blue county, where we recently flipped congressional district PA08 from 🟦🔜🟥.
Democrat Commissioner Bill Gaughan is also on record calling conservatives “ignorant” & “stupid.”
Lackawanna is the same county where employee Rick Notari celebrated the assassination attempt on President Trump’s life.
This is a county with a history of discrimination against Republicans.
I’m calling for a full investigation by the Dept. of State, as well as Attorney General Dave Sunday.
I’ve reported this to the proper authorities.
Thank you to @PreamboS for bringing this to our attention.
I hope this inspires even more Republicans to vote in the May 20th Pennsylvania primary.
I don’t know who’s hating on #ScottPresler but we at MAGA welcome ALL, gay or straight, black, brown or yellow. We all have one thing in common, we’re here to make America the greatest country on Earth!! Scott is a national treasure and we all love him!!
That security officer deserves a raise. He definitely had alot more patience than most of us. I would of snatched her wig right off her head.
Congress is not above the law and they have no right to harass anyone. Charges need to be filed against all of them.
Maxine is a waiste to this country and time for old saggy a$$ to be thrown out.
Inciting violence on citizens is not acceptable by any sitting member of congress who's salaries we pay.
