unlearn shame. all forms of shame: unemployment, illness, vulnerability, longing, desire, errors, failures. you do not need to feel ashamed of what you are experiencing or living. freedom and shame cannot coexist.
Lovee this. I use to dislike my name as well until I discovered my love for it. And I realized how unique it is. I always hated when I see people judging black people names, it screams anti-black and white brainwashed.
A few weeks ago my co-worker said she hated her name bc she thought it was ghetto & I explained that it’s actually a beautiful traditional Black American name from our heritage & today she thanked me for enlightening her & says she’s been using her real name since that convo 🥹
I love when filmmakers challenge themselves to showcase Black stories in unique ways. Greek mythology meets neighborhood storytelling.
and not the trailer making me emo lol.
I LOVE neuroplasticity. It gives me so much strength to keep bringing a positive change in my life, to think that YES my mind is with me. My mind is not working against me, but with me. Slowly & surely, we'll overcome our challenges.
Full grown adults that can’t swim, cycle, skate, backpack, take a gap year, vacation, play an instrument or speak multiple foreign languages. Just a lifetime of hustling and trying to leave survival mode. These are subtle poverty metrics that no one really talks about
People have trouble understanding or even conceptualizing things they dnt agree with. They can’t study an ideology & acknowledge the reasoning within the framework bc they disagree. They’ll avoid acknowledging the context just to argue their perspective & they’ll even claim they understand but then they’ll ask stupid questions that prove, they don’t.. & you just gotta know when to stop with these type of ppl bc they’ll go on & on, ask the same questions over & over without comprehending a single thing you’re saying bc they’re trapped inside their own (lack of) understanding of things they don’t agree with & more often than not, things they’re ignorant to.
been crazy to see the move towards 140M+ BPM electronic music make bouyon + soca popular amongst a whole audience
also feels like black francophone music is having its ascendance as a whole
30 years ago, Aaliyah ushered in a new sound that was FUTURISTIC and DISTINCTIVE. She had her own sound..Her SMOOTH vocals & choreography complemented every beat. “One in a Million”wasn’t just an album; it was ART & a MASTERPIECE
A BODY of WORK that, til this day, feels FRESH & NEW, & studied by many great artists today🙌🏾
Aaliyah legacy is 4ever🕊️🫶🏾
When a person becomes wise, the first thing they give up is showing off. They no longer feel the need to prove their intelligence, success, strength, or worth to anyone. Wisdom is knowing that validation gained from others is momentary, but self-love lasts much longer.
