This is one of the most famous and valuable photographs of Diana, Princess of Wales, taken on August 24, 1997, exactly one week before her death in the Paris car accident.

The image shows her sitting on the trampoline of the yacht “Jonikal,” owned by Mohamed Al-Fayed, father of Dodi Al-Fayed, while on vacation in the Mediterranean with her sons, Princes William and Harry, and her new partner.

The exact location usually cited is the Mediterranean, off the French coast near Saint-Tropez, although some sources also place it off the coast of Sardinia; there is no unanimous consensus on whether it was specifically off Portofino. A photographer, whose identity was never fully confirmed, captured her from a motorboat, and the image was published on August 24, generating immediate fascination.

Following Diana’s death on August 31, this photograph took on an almost prophetic significance, showing her serene and alone, with a seagull flying overhead. It eventually sold for up to one million dollars, becoming one of the most expensive celebrity images in history.

I don't know why this hasn't received more publicity, but this fifty-foot sculpture was unveiled recently in South Dakota.

It's called 'Dignity' and was done by artist Dale Lamphere to honor the women of the Sioux Nation.

Before Hollywood knew him as Charles Bronson, he was Charles Buchinsky—the 11th of 15 children in a poor Lithuanian immigrant family.

His father died when Charles was just 10. At 16, he went underground into the coal mines to help feed his family, sometimes taking the hardest jobs because they paid a few cents more.

During WWII, he left the mines and became a B-29 gunner, flying 25 combat missions in the Pacific and earning a Purple Heart.

After the war, he worked whatever jobs he could find before eventually making his way to Hollywood. He took small, often uncredited roles before becoming famous in The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, and eventually Death Wish.

Charles Bronson died in 2003 at 81.

Hollywood made him famous as the tough guy who couldn't be broken.

But his real life told a different story: he survived poverty, served his country, faced war, endured rejection, suffered heartbreaking loss—and kept moving forward.

That is the kind of generation America was built by. Men and women who didn't expect life to be easy. They worked, they sacrificed, they served, and they endured.

They didn't ask what their country could do for them. They understood what they could do for their country. 🇺🇸
