Schools spend hours trying to “reach” the kid who openly doesn’t care, while the kid who tries every day quietly gets ignored. We’re exhausting ourselves chasing resistance instead of investing in effort.

@historycomics Oh yes, he's doing great! Those Legos were great therapy for him. We all tried to make the best of the most scary situation.
I hope your recovery is swift and bearable.
@historycomics My 13yo son was in the hospital with a brain infection for 2 months last summer, and here is the wall of Legos and toys we had, including that same set. Unfortunately, we had to wait to watch the movie, so we were really curious about those giant goats!
And can you also tell me why some people fight so hard to ban books like mine that neither they, or anyone they know, have ever actually read? And have you ever actually heard an ACTUAL kid complain?
My books, “New Kid” & “Class Act,” have NO sex, NO cursing, NO gangs, NO drugs, NO guns, NO anti police messages… and once I heard that some readers don’t like “OMG” I changed it to “Ohmygoodness.” Can you explain to ME why they are still some of the most banned books in the US?
It is odd to me that teachers are often silenced through public shame or policy from speaking out against conditions or practices. This is a lingering thought from the “teachers need to stop complaining” post. Nothing more.
So my son has been in the hospital for 8 full days now...
I'm so thankful for how much better he is but I'm sitting up in his room tonight worrying about contracting the new COVID strain and trying to figure out how I can get another booster but without getting any symptoms....
@James_Keith Hi James, my son is also in the hospital-the ICU with a complex infection. This is most scared Ive ever been even as he continues to improve. I think there's a reason I saw your tweets. Know that me and my family are praying for yours. So encouraging to see how alert your son is
