We are raising our voices against the mistreatment and abuse of #Eritrea|n refugees in #Egypt, who are seeking safety and a better life away from the dire circumstances in their home country. Under international law, specifically the 1951 Refugee Convention, signatory nations have a legal and moral obligation to protect individuals fleeing persecution and violence. Unfortunately, it is with great disappointment that we observe actions taken by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi @AlsisiOfficial and his administration that seem to violate these fundamental principles of human rights and dignity.

Finally, @CNN traveled to Libya's Sahara Desert to investigate this global trafficking ring and discovered the harsh truth of what is happening to African refugees inside #Libya. The majority of these refugees are from #Eritrea, #Ethiopia, and #Sudan. Torture videos are currently circulating on social media and being sent to families around the world, demanding thousands of ransom dollars (currently $12,000 to $15,000) in exchange for their freedom.
