"I am proud to accept this award on behalf of all those who continue to fight for peace, dignity, and justice in Africa and beyond. Their sacrifices often go unseen, yet their courage is what sustains our hope. They are the unsung heroes of our time; community leaders, young activists, mothers and daughters, men and women who, through quiet acts of resilience, keep the dream of a better Africa alive."

Water is one of the hardest hit resources of a changing climate. Sea levels are rising and frequent floods and droughts continue to leave communities more vulnerable.
Wetlands are on the frontlines of the climate crisis. They are essential parts of the carbon cycle and are crucial to mitigating climate change.
Am passionate about creating opportunities for girls in rural communities. Using #Sports, the arts and #culture is one strong way of shifting norms, giving voice and confidence to girls, their families and communities.
A few weeks ago we were cheering @Girls_and_Goals as they hosted a #GirlsSoccer tournament in Shamva.
I was inspired by the girls of Chitate village, in Murewa who put together their team, worked super hard and participate in Shamva.
Post event, they have continued to meet, train share insights and support each. Today they talked about ABUSE in sport and managing ego (kuzvionera padenga).
Please join me in supporting these girls. Like their FB page, contact @Girls_and_Goals

As part of the Pre-Summit activities for the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), African Finance Ministers gathered today at the Adwa Memorial Museum for a high-level consultative forum under the theme: “Deepening Engagement of Ministries of Finance for Accelerated, Just, Africa-Led Climate Finance Mobilization.”
Speakers underscored that Africa contributes less than 4% of global emissions but bears the heaviest burden of climate impacts. Leaders stressed the urgency of scaling up adaptation finance, addressing debt burdens, strengthening carbon markets, and mobilizing innovative investments.
H.E. Semereta Sewasew, State Minister of Finance of Ethiopia, reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to climate justice, highlighting achievements such as the Green Legacy initiative, clean energy generation from the Renaissance Dam, and the establishment of a national climate and green fund.
The session emphasized that Finance Ministers are at the heart of the transformation, bridging technical expertise with ministerial decisions, and shaping Africa’s unified position in the global climate finance arena ahead of COP30 in Belem.
