In recent times, the term ‘extremism’ has become increasingly complex and multifaceted, prompting discussions on whether its current definition suffices in addressing the myriad forms it takes in today’s global landscape. The last definition of extremism, while comprehensive at the time of its inception, may have fallen short in encapsulating the evolving nature of extreme ideologies and actions.

When a young person expresses hateful views, their peers have a responsibility to respond in a manner that is constructive and educational. It's important to address such situations with sensitivity and care, aiming to understand the underlying reasons for these views while firmly standing against hate.

Firstly, engaging in open dialogue is crucial. Peers should approach the conversation with empathy, asking questions to understand why the young person holds these views. It's possible that they are influenced by misinformation or a lack of exposure to diverse perspectives.

Secondly, providing accurate information and resources can help challenge hateful beliefs. Peers can share articles, books, or videos that offer different viewpoints and factual data to counteract the misinformation that often fuels hate.

Just to add a bit of advice to this tweet as well in regards to doing your own research, and at the risk of getting dragged down a rabbit hole.

Don't let them fool you. Don't let them use you. Don't let them ruin your life and the lives of others. Think for yourself. Question everything. Seek the truth. Listen to different perspectives. Respect each other. Embrace humanity.

Stories Like this are gold dust to someone wanting to spread hatred of refugees. Let me explain....

A council buying 6 homes to house refugees, In a country where people are living in sheltered housing, Hostels and many sleeping on the streets, Is a genuine concern for a lot of people.

When that concern is not being spoken about in the public sphere, Then groups like #BritainFirst ect, Will have those conversations in turn taking some people down a rabbit hole where it could lead them down a dark path. Also empowering various group to then own them conversations.

So instead of labelling someone for sharing something you don't agree with, talk to them give them another view to think about, before that person looks in the wrong places for answers.

Under-18s accounted for 14 per cent of all #terrorism-related #arrests in the #UK in the year to March 2023, down from a record 15 per cent in the previous 12 months, Home Office figures show. It marks a significant rise on 2019/20, when it was 5 per cent.

Some 24 people under the age of 18 were arrested for terror-related activity in the year to March 2023, down from 29 in the previous 12 months.

The overall number of terror arrests in the UK has been on a downward path in recent years, dropping from a record 447 in 2017/18 to 169 in 2022/23.
