March Updates
Permits have been confirmed for most counties, including Nairobi.
We do not anticipate any arrests but in case it happens, we have legal teams on standby to offer support.
We stand firmly against the notion that barring pregnant teens from schools will deter against 'irresponsible behavior'.
Education is a powerful tool to empower individuals and communities, and denying it to pregnant teens only perpetuates a cycle of vulnerability and inequality.
As we gear up for the Feminist March happening on January 27, 2024, against the alarming cases of femicide, we'll be facilitating a crucial conversation on collective actions to address femicide. Join us on the @FeministsKE X space today at 7:00 pm EAT, with speakers, @OuyaVivianne, @NjeriWaMigwi, @marthamwatha, and @Kelsiekim.

“Hello Boniface, hide my identity, please.
There's a case of a young lady called Emmaculate Odhiambo who was living in Kileleshwa with her aunt and aunt's husband, a police officer named Tobias Odhiambo, stationed at Kileleshwa Police Station. It's alleged that on the evening of Thursday, 11th January 2024, between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., the lady was sent to buy food and was accompanied by a young kid. They claim that the lady slid at the gate, fell head-first into the drainage tunnel, and was swept away by flash floods.
They further claim to have searched for the body around that place, only to recover it at 9 p.m. I have attached a photo of the place where they claim she fell and was swept away by the water so that you can study the vegetation around that drainage channel and make your conclusions. The image was taken on Friday morning.
The aunt and her husband allege that when the body was found at around 9 p.m. she had already succumbed. They go further to state that she was taken to Chiromo Morgue at 9 p.m. yet details at the morgue indicate the body was booked at 3 a.m.
On Friday morning, those who saw the body claim it was bruised, and blood was oozing from the head, mouth, and nose. The police from Kileleshwa dumped the body at the Chiromo morgue and didn't investigate anything until today. Those who were living with the lady instructed the morgue attendant not to permit non-family members to view the body, meaning even friends couldn't be allowed in. They further convinced all family members, except her grandmother, not to insist on a postmortem examination, or record a statement at Kileleshwa Police Station, claiming it was a natural death.
The dead lady was an orphan since childhood, and was raised by her grandmother. After completing her college studies at Nyabondo Medical Training College, the aunt requested that she go live with them while she looked for a job.
What bothers me is why the police failed to take up the matter. Is it a case of trying to protect their fellow officer or what? Please share so that justice can be served for her ageing grandmother.” - Via DM cc @IG_NPS@ODPP_KE #SemaUkweli
What hurts is I am a lesbian but if a man kills me today, people will either justify my death because of homophobia if they get to know my sexuality or misogyny where they’ll call me a slut who deserved it if they didn’t. We can never win under patriarchy.
#EndFemicideKE
Being a woman should not be a death sentence! As Kenyan women, including LBQT+ women and girls in all our diversities, we are tired of the dehumanization that permeates our existence, the tragically normalized occurrences of femicide, and the pervasive victim-blaming rhetoric...
It's not about #airbnb lacking CCTV, or two consenting adults selling sex. #Femicide issue is deeply rooted in unequal power relations where men feel they have power over our bodies. #MyDearBody#EndFemicideKE

There really is no point of #EngageTheIG if @NPSOfficial_KE will continue to flout the law as they presently do. The constitution gives us the right to protest! There's no condition that, we can protest when it makes the cops happy.
#SabaSabaMarchForOurlives
In preparation for #SabaSabaMarchForOurlives this morning, activists woke up to teargas and were arrested at their dooorstop in Kibera and Mathera hours before the March started! Why? Because they are exercising their constitutional rights?
