Shared some insightful intellectual thoughts and warm moments with students drawn from twenty five (25) universities across Kenya during the 26th session of the Kenya Model United Nations and Moot Court Competition that I was pleased to grace as Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker. The occasion also marked the Refugee Week 2026, with the dual themes of “Advancing a Common Future” and “Courage in Crisis”.

The essence of my message to our young intellectuals was simple: “If you are good enough, you are old enough. The time for the youth is NOW! Our young people must take a firm stand and substantively help to shape a Kenya and a world anchored on the irreducible minimum values of integrity, accountability and responsibility in every facet of governance…What matters in any fight is never the size of the dog in the fight but rather the size of the fight in the dog in the fight”!

I further urged the youth to be the change they desire to see in Kenya and globally, and to demand the very best of THEMSELVES first and foremost. In the words of Martin Luther King Jnr. “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michaelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.’”
