Migration is not simply about the movement of people.

It is about the movement of skills, knowledge, innovation and opportunity.

At the EU Migration Talks in Vienna, I shared Kenya’s perspective that labour mobility should move from crisis management to mobility management, creating safe, orderly and regular pathways that benefit countries of origin, destination countries and migrants alike.

Africa’s youthful population and Europe’s ageing workforce are not competing realities, but complementary ones.

The future of the EU - Africa partnership therefore should not be written as one continent helping another.

Rather, it should be written as two neighbouring continents shaping their shared future together.
