In 2019, influence is everything. Printers/pkg companies/ink suppliers etc. should be present on social media outlets to spread awareness of their brands, products/services, & industry news. Otherwise, they could be behind the times.

@Amelia_Erwin__@ClemsonGC "Responsible consumerism" is very popular. People "seek out brands that help them make better, more responsible choices." The printing industry can hop on this trend by shifting towards eco-friendly pkg perhaps by decreasing harsh chemicals used in production. @ClemsonGC#gcflexo
@RachelRitter17 @ClemsonGC It’s interesting to see some actual numbers that relate to consumer perception of packaging! Companies/brands must consider the aesthetics of a package just as much as the functionality to be profitable. @ClemsonGC#gcflexo
Pantone has just released 294 colors to their library. Why is this important? Well, more colors means more matches. Also, these colors can be matched on a variety of substrates, specifically for the fashion & textile industries. @ClemsonGC#gcflexo https://t.co/7UppX9um25
@LaurenGrimmer2@ClemsonGC I agree—these would be very useful for every GC student to have. It’s nice to have a pocket-sized reference guide, especially if you’re in the middle of a project, perhaps—you can just pull it out and double check what you need to know. @ClemsonGC#gcflexo
@juliapruitt19@ClemsonGC I like how this article stresses the importance of consistency: “More uniformity means more consistency. Greater consistency lends itself to more repeatable & predictable results.” This refers to how UV LED offers a consistent exposure across the entire plate @ClemsonGC#gcflexo
@gc_zac@ClemsonGC I like this article b/c it sheds light on the fact that flexo is often overlooked as a contender w/ gravure & digital, but I noticed that it only mentions that companies are trying to be sustainable, and doesn't mention specific ways to BE more sustainable. #gcflexo@ClemsonGC
Wikoff Color has been a partner of Asahi & distributes their plates. According to Asahi, "it is a significant benefit to us and to the end customer to have their trusted ink and coatings supplier also provide their flexo plates." https://t.co/Mc1cDUGoTk #gcflexo@ClemsonGC
@RachelRitter17 @ClemsonGC I worked at Wikoff this summer & got to see a little behind-the-scenes of this GelFlex launch. I saw the importance of environmental regulations & how the graphic design team needs to be aware of what can and can't be said when they release promo material. #gcflexo@ClemsonGC
@juliapruitt19@ClemsonGC Clemson GC does a good job of having small class sizes, incorporating and teaching new industry technology to students, and truly engaging students about what they r passionate about, which r all things this article mentions as being vital to design education. #GC3400@ClemsonGC
@freshtwin_@ClemsonGC This article explains that, since Gen Z/Millennials will make up ~30% of total retail sales by 2020, companies must either develop packaging to fit the mkt or go out of business. Putting research into what the target market finds attractive in pkg is crucial. @ClemsonGC#GC3400
I really enjoyed hearing J.D. talk about digital marketing & working w/ Beyoncé, J. Cole, & 2Chainz, etc. I didn’t realize how much data analytics/marketing/psychology goes into each project. Even a surprise release takes months to plan!
@ErwinCenterCU@ClemsonGC
@juliapruitt19@ClemsonGC Like the article says, “The success of any piece of visual communication depends on color.” It’s also important to know who your audience is when designing, b/c likely diff colors have diff meanings to diff cultures. @ClemsonGC#GC3400
minimalism is def the trend currently. I prefer minimalism b/c it can b effective & aesthetic @ the same time. But simplistic designs can be harder 2 create b/c u need the balance b/w functionalism & beauty & that can b hard 2 do w/ only a few design elements @ClemsonGC#GC3400
@dowling_natalie Love this article. It gave some great advice to designers as they try to push the limits of their creativity. The most important thing I took away is to not be afraid of failures, or to “embrace the ugly” as they say here @ClemsonGC#gc3400
Interesting. Just goes to show that not only the type choice communicates a message, but the arrangement of that type as well. This is something designers should be very cognizant of. @ClemsonGC#GC3400
this is crazy. That last eye looks like an underwater trench. The photographer definitely used a macro lens here and a fast shutter speed to catch all the detail. I wonder how he got the animals close/still enough to take pictures of their eyes? @ClemsonGC#gc3400
