Going to leave you with this tonight:
The best thing you can do for yourself is actively increase your surface area for luck to hit you. Go outside, travel more, go to new cates, museums, events, take a new route home, go for hikes, see cities, countrysides, take your notebook, speak to people, ask questions, start businesses - go on more side quests. You can literally just do things, and the more you do, the more serendipity and synchronicity will find you.
what the fvck are you even afraid of?
death?
it’s part of life.
bankruptcy?
money can be made again.
failure?
congrats, most people are too scared to even fvcking try.
losing people?
not everyone is meant to stay, some departures are big blessings.
embarrassment?
100 years from now, everyone in this conversation will be gone.
judgment?
if they haven’t been where you’re trying to go, their opinion doesn’t matter.
rejection?
every no gets you closer to a yes.
taking risks?
better to pay the risk tax than the regret tax.
look, the graveyard is full of people who were waiting for the perfect time so jump, move, run, just keep going.
tick tock.
saw an inspiring video that said you need to have 4 hobbies.
create, consume, cavort, commune
create: bring something to life consume: appreciate the art of another
cavort: move your body daily commune: have a community to socialize with
The key to living a comfortable life is confrontation and chaos actually. You have to say no. You have to tell people to fuck off. You have to be mean in necessary situations. A life of peace isn't built off of being a yes man and taking a passive approach to everything
I can’t stress this enough. GET OUT OF YOUR HOMETOWN. Even if it’s not forever. Move. Travel. See the world. There is more to life than the same 10 people and the same 2 bars.
Alcohol is marketed as social connection.
But watch a bar at 2am... It's the loneliest place on earth.
Psilocybin is classified as dangerous, a Schedule I substance.
Yet it can create the deepest connections most people have ever felt.
We've got it backwards.
Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset..
The single best advice I ever got on conversation is “ask questions the other person will enjoy answering” which sounds insultingly obvious, but almost nobody does it, and it instantly makes conversations vastly more fun.
