JUST IN: 🇯🇵 Japan has officially lifted restrictions on weapons exports that had been in place since World War II.
Under the new policy, Japan will be able to sell heavy weapons such as tanks, missiles, and warships to countries with which it has defense cooperation agreements.
Japan’s updated defense equipment and technology export rules pave the way for a more secure and stable Indo-Pacific. This historic step will help enhance the defense capabilities of the 🇺🇸🇯🇵 Alliance’s partners and our collective ability to preserve peace and protect freedom across the region.
With all that's going on with Iran, Hezbollah, and the Russian/Ukrainian war I missed this:
"Japanese Destroyer Transit through Taiwan Strait Rattles China"
This is significant in that it signals to China that Japan is going to challenge the CCP's use of its military to intimidate Asian nations in general, and Taiwan in particular.
I believe this is particularly rattling to China given that Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s reportedly stated that Japan would be willing to defend Taiwan.

Finally, China is openly saying that Okinawa isn’t Japan. Next they will start claiming Okinawa outright
At this rate, don’t be surprised if Hokkaido and Kyushu get dragged into the same narrative next.
We absolutely must never, ever allow this to happen!
The Iran War could impact the prices of Japan's popular plastic model kits:
Hasegawa Corporation told the media they nearly ran out of plastic, but have just secured enough to last them until August.
Costs are going up and they may raise prices soon.
Prime Minister Takaichi has assured the Japanese people that together with 8 months of oil reserves and the securing of alternative suppliers, Japan will have the oil that it needs to function. (But will prices go up?)

Rare footage!
The Japan Coast Guard formed a formation to protect its fishermen from the dangerous maneuvers of the China Coast Guard vessels that illegally entered lawful Japanese waters.
Japan released multiple radio warnings, but CCG refused to cooperate.
🗳In Kyoto today, Nishiwaki Takatoshi has just been reelected to a third term as the governor of the prefecture. He enjoyed the support of all main political parties.
Behind, candidates from the fringe anti-NHK party, and the Japanese Communist Party.
🇯🇵🇨🇳 A Chinese communist whines about Japan's "right-wing nationalist government".
He then uses some very interesting logic: in order for Japan to move forward it must look back and apologize (again). Otherwise, Japan will never move forward.
Prime Minister Takaichi says Japan has been talking with Iran:
“We have already engaged with Iran many times over. As for talks at the leaders’ level, we have also been making the necessary arrangements for that as well.”
