Merida Capital Holdings

Cannabis-focused PE Firm. Backing 65+ portcos. We don't just invest in cos, we build them.

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

@tomangell Possible...maybe. But another primary question would be whether states would want to aggravate their local operators who they have been working with(and politicians collecting donations from) for years to bring in out of state product that may or may not be cheaper than local.

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

Ever wonder why Rescheduling or even small regulatory reforms in mj are so difficult? Well...there were/are people in government who worked with advocacy groups to put out content like this historically and Congress broadly had this attitude up to the late 90s(or later) on mj.

Think marijuana is harmless? Think again: 😳

Medical Marijuana becomes cannabis-based medicine
Pharma enters in big way

Lots of steps along the way that offer opportunity in the ecosystem after 4 years of survival mode. But medical side seemingly biggest lift early.

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

Watch therapeutic use of cannabis amongst 50+ age cohorts explode post rescheduling to 3.
-Trump announces it (meaning everyone now knows-Trump creates more widely viewed news)
-even in legal states, fed illegality affects mindset
-now doctors can more freely recommend

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

-this leads to more open, informed patient/doctor discussion
-cannabis becomes part of the health regimen
-insurance reimburses many therapeutic uses(whoa Nellie!)
-no barriers to therapeutic use
-research drives more targeted cannabinoid products

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

Wouldn't more accurate description of rescheduling effects be "End of overtaxation through one arcane tax provision" or "End of Punitive Taxation" than "tax break".

But agreed that folks may not realize how much cash this sucks out of canna cos annually.

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

Well, we now know who on the Republican side receives the most alcohol and pharma money...

@StrainStars_ commercial on @espn after MNF....NY changed its rules on advertising or are we in Yolo territory because of impending Trump announcement?

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

Can you get a better endorsement/acknowledgement from an administration that cannabis should not be on the CSA Schedule I than the wild juxtaposition of a Rescheduling Executive Order vs droning (fentanyl or other narcotic smuggling ?) boats?

@timothy_dexter_ @HappyBurner88 Medmen maybe too

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

We know Kraig well and have seen him face some hairy storms in the space. This is a great summation similar to what we have been writing to shareholders for 3+ yrs with our only addition being how this all affects ancillary cos.

Well worth the read.

@MitchellOsak @jesseredmond Maybe if an ETF didn't hold derivatives that get massively shorted against than stock prices would have held up better which would have helped capital access, which would have helped......everything. Not the only cause. But a major issue on the pubco side.

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

@TheDankInformer @winloseandwin Non presidential election years typically mean higher percentage of single issue voters or more hard-core politics. Probably bodes well for cannabis due to near miss in 24. But obviously optimism is frowned upon in our space rn.

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

@jamiecampbell @aaronvalue Holy cow. First American to use the phrase funded capacity!

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

@JDerevyanny @aaronvalue Eventually these moments lead to bigger things and bigger in state numbers. With stocks trading near lows, shifts like this would jog sone of the apathy/inertia. Whether they will or not is a different question.

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

Stocks of cos in NJ should be up 100% on this news. But...crickets.

[Tom Angell 🌳📰ⓥ @tomangell]

BIG: New Jersey government employees of the city of Trenton, as well as workers for the boards of education in Orange and Teaneck, will receive medical cannabis coverage as a new healthcare benefit.

[Merida Capital Holdings @MeridaCap]

@JDerevyanny @aaronvalue Not sure how closely you read our historical analysis, but we have been talking about these smaller normalization milestones for yrs. NJ leads on workers comp adoption of mj, has well settled law forcing insurers to reimburse and is one of the insurance leaders of the US.

We unveiled our inaugural season jersey to a sold-out crowd, and the whole community was here for it! Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate! @NorthwellHealth @914thInfantry
