Most of the big modern fighting games have decent ranked and matchmaking. People are talking like you boot up SF6 and get put in with MenaRD when you’re in rookie rank. That doesn’t happen.
It’s happening in Avatar because IT IS A BETA, the game is not out. There are no points.
The whole fighting games are too hard discourse is hilarious because all of this has come up again because of Avatar.
Avatar has no ranked matchmaking because it’s a fucking beta. They’re testing the netcode and the general matchmaking.
They aren’t testing you.
@ShaudL_ People are being matched with good players because they’re literally testing the netcode and to see if people can get games. It’s not to test how good you are as a player
@ShaudL_ I find this really silly because more big modern FGs now have matchmaking where you can play as much as you like at the bottom rank if that’s your skill while you learn. This conversation is coming up again because of a beta. The games not even out, there is no ranked
@O773R “Chess has an ELO system it doesn’t just throw you in” every FG now has ranked, and will put you with people of a similar skill. Why are people talking like day 1 on the game it drops you in with tokido. That doesn’t happen.
@EhcksTGD@O773R Literally every single modern fighting game has a ranked mode where it won’t put you in with people who know how to play. If you boot up SF6 now as a complete beginner, it will ask you are you a beginner. Why are people pretending it puts you in with Daigo
@AndNowThunder@O773R There’s no recognisable feedback in chess either. When you move your piece in a stupid place the board doesn’t go “bad move” you find out it’s a bad move when you lose
@EarthM19339@LordofHresvelg It’s not elitist to say “yes this is hard and you’ll have to work hard to be good at it” especially when the community is literally full of people who are happy to teach you, are putting guides out etc
@Kiyotard@Eggmaster23 Why? I'm not even saying that there can't be well rounded villains? i'm saying there's a place in fiction for just pure evil and the journey to overcoming that evil. Sauron from Lord of the Rings is a great example of this, he's not well rounded at all in that book. he's just bad
@Iturebu@Eggmaster23 It's cool when villain's are well rounded, or sympathetic but sometimes you just need someone so irredeemably horrible, where their only motivation is their own gain, so you can get the catharsis at the end where they get what they deserve
@Goji_Saurus I mean literally every word In any language has a root somewhere it’s like not having the word blacksmith in your fantasy novel because the word smith comes from proto-Germanic and there is no germany or Germanic people in the land of poopoo or whatever the fuck
Coming back to SF6 after months away playing Fatal Fury and the one thing I forgot is that boy do people love to press buttons in this game. They’ll never just block and wait, they mash on your pressure, they mash on wake up, they mash full screen when you’re 20 foot away
@UnsafeonHit@MrMostafles It’s good, I just think it’s going to be swallowed up by Tokkon, and the peopel who don’t want to play tag games will go back to SF6
@LauraRbnsn I’m sorry but he absolutely looks his age. He’s 30. He looks 30, maybe a bit younger. There’s a weird thing on the internet where people think you turn 30 and your skin melts off. You still look young at 30, the difference between 25 and 30 on your face is non existent
