@EveKeneinan People who say learning about what the Bible says amounts to religious instruction are (inadvertently) suggesting that the text is compelling enough to persuade a reader to believe even if presented neutrally.
@UpTambourine Congrats to her, I hope you help her out three times as much. (Take her older ones to the park, bring her meals, do her laundry for her, etc.)
@ChivalryGuild I think the winners were the first-movers who were able to get the attention of men out of their league by being more forward, while social habits still pushed those men towards marriage.
Now there are no winners, the cads end up old and regretful too for the most part.
@kingofthehood89 I think this is mostly a filtering instinct on which women makke good mothers. If you have to break the bed to get 5 minutes of pleasant behaviour how do you get to child #2. You want a woman who will sneak off for a quicky even when you're tired and carrying bits of lego.
@ancap_antifa@lymanstoneky It depends a lot on the work. There are plenty of women who work from home with kids: hairdressers, physiotherapists, seamstresses, nannies, etc.
Computer remote just requires an office space with a door to keep them out, it probably doesn't even need a lock if they can talk.
@HarryStebbings@typesfast How do you explain the existence of entirely remote companies then? They exist, and include people with families. It's not even difficult, you just need a home which isn't 100% open-plan.
@patrickc As a Brit I just don't get it. Even in a heat wave my house is only moderately warm, and then I get to swan around in lingerie all day. If I need to do anything out of the house my car and the shops all have AC already. What is the point of adding more?
@thekitze There's no need to rush. If she only watches these things when she's 10, 15, whatever...so what? She can still enjoy them then. Whereas if you introduce them, she can't un-know it.
Don't worry, she's not going to accidentally go through her whole life without ever seeing cartoons
@VivaldiVril What are the odds that she is going to be worth knowing? What are the odds of rejection, and how harsh/publicly broadcast might it be?
Men prefer dating apps because IRL filtering is not fun for them - they pay for drinks/dates to get a chance at a prize they might not even want.
@TheAnnaGat It's mostly basic education, not "pushing". I was taught about contraception as a teen and told having babies young was dangerous, but nothing about menopause, medical risk (which is at its lowest in late teens) or support for mothers. How about we be honest and let women choose?
@Romy_Holland The problem is child protection laws.
Raising a child is easy. Doing it in a way that never upsets someone else such that CPS come and investigate with the threat of child removal is harder (and produces a toxic culture of doing it "right" which also puts people off having kids),
@cbmrw I don't think the position is that women shouldn't have kids over 30, but that they shouldn't begin having them then. The risks are reduced by starting younger, because a) you don't ovulate while pregnant, and b) first births are more taxing than later ones.
@thegenesisbl0ck It's obviously not ideal, especially if we're talking a first baby at 40, but for any given woman having a(nother) baby in her 40s is probably better than choosing not to.
I'm certainly not going to stop having kids just because the later ones are more likely to be a bit duff.
