🚔 Today marks the start of Neighbourhood Policing Week 2026!
Whilst every week in policing is a week of action, we are keen to recognise the dedication of our officers and staff by showcasing the impact of our neighbourhood teams across #Merseyside.
Nobody knows our local communities better than our neighbourhood teams 💙
We know people want to see more officers in their neighbourhoods and understand how local police are tackling crime and anti-social behaviour. We remain committed to visible and accessible neighbourhood policing, and our recent restructure means more officers are now present in the communities they serve, focusing on the issues that matter most to residents.
As part of our commitment to local communities, the Force has introduced its most significant restructure in a decade to improve visibility, responsiveness and local decision-making.
Key investments include:
👮 67 additional officers dedicated to neighbourhood policing
👮A new neighbourhood hub at Lower Lane, Fazakerley
👮A second new neighbourhood hub in Newton-le-Willows
👀 Keep an eye on our social media throughout the week as we shine a spotlight on our neighbourhood teams | #NeighbourhoodPolicingWeek
Our #ProjectServator officers deployed around @LFC's stadium at Anfield on Friday in the run-up to and during the Zach Bryan concert.
If you noticed these patrols, there's nothing to worry about. It's all part of our policing operation for the wide variety of summer events in Merseyside and the aim is to keep residents, visitors and staff safe.
These deployments consist of uniformed and plain-clothes officers who are specially trained to spot tell-tale signs that someone may be gathering information to help them plan or prepare to commit a crime. During deployments, the officers will also speak with members of the public and security staff to encourage vigilance and the reporting of suspicious activity.
There was a fabulous atmosphere among the fans 🤠. Thank you to everyone that spoke to officers and learned how the deployments help protect our communities.
You can play a part in keeping our communities safe too – if you see something that doesn't feel right, report it to staff, security or a police officer, or call 101. In an emergency, always call 999.

We are appealing for information following a fatal collision on the M53 earlier this morning.
At around 3.25am today (Monday 15 June), emergency services were called to Junction 4 at Clatterbridge following reports that a Toyota Yaris had been involved in a collision with a male pedestrian on the northbound carriageway.
Sadly, the man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained Family Liaison Officers.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene.
Following inquiries, it was established that the man had been involved in a separate collision on the southbound carriageway just prior to the incident when his Skoda Fabia collided with the central reservation.
A full closure remains in place on both sides of the carriageway between Junctions 4 and 5 northbound and southbound to allow investigators to carry out their initial inquiries into the incident
Lead Investigating Officer, Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from our MATRIX Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “My thoughts are with the man’s family at this tragic time and specially trained officers are supporting them.
“An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of what happened. Although this occurred in the early hours of the morning, we are still appealing for witnesses to come forward who may have information.
"If you were travelling on the M53, in either direction, between Junction 4 (Clatterbridge) and Junction 5 (Eastham), please check your front or rear dash cameras, even if you didn’t witness anything. Sometimes important footage is captured without the driver realising it and this could prove to be vital to our enquiries.
"Road closures will remain in place on both sides of the motorway whilst we carry out vital collision investigation work to provide answers for the man's family. If possible, I would ask that motorists find alternative routes and avoid the area. Thank you for your patience."
Anyone who witnessed the collision or captured the incident on CCTV or dashcam is asked to contact the SCIU on (0151) 777 5747, or email [email protected].
Alternatively, DM @MerPolCC or call @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 26000474896.

Hello Vinny. Unfortunately we don't make the laws, we only enforce them. E-scooters however are already illegal if bought privately and used in public. They are only legally used when they are rented under the government VOI scheme or bought privately but kept for use on private land, not public. NL - Admin

DISPERSAL ZONE | A dispersal zone has been put in place in Liverpool under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 to help prevent potential criminality and disorder.
This order, alongside the Section 60 authority circulated earlier, has been implemented to support policing operations in relation to today’s planned procession and counter protest in the County Road area.
The dispersal zone is in effect from 9:00am on Saturday 13 June until midnight on Sunday 14 June.
Under this legislation, officers have additional powers to:
Direct individuals to leave the area if they are involved in, or are likely to become involved in, anti-social behaviour
Require those directed to leave not to return for up to 48 hours
Seize items believed to be linked to anti-social behaviour
The designated area includes (and is bounded by):
Queens Drive, Walton Lane, Everton Valley, Kirkdale Road, Stanley Road, Melrose Road, Brewster Street and Breeze Hill, including all roads, transport hubs, public spaces and premises within these boundaries.
A person who fails to comply with a direction to leave the area, or who returns within the specified time, commits an offence and may be arrested.
Officers may also use stop and search powers under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 to prevent serious violence.
Superintendent Phil Mullally said: “We will continue to proactively put a number of measures in place, including the S34 dispersal zone and Section 60 order, and our officers are actively patrolling these areas to provide reassurance.
“Our officers will be there to maintain public order, prevent and detect crime, protect life and property, and ensure the safety of all those attending and the wider public.
“Where individuals commit criminal offences, we will take appropriate and proportionate action.”

JAILED | Detectives from our specialist Child Criminal and Sexual Exploitation Team (CCSET) are welcoming the sentencing of a Walton man to seven years and one month in prison for multiple sexual offences.
Dylan Matthews, 20, of Elmcroft Close, pleaded guilty to 53 charges against 37 victims.
Matthews was initially arrested in 2024 following an allegation of online sexual offences against a girl under 16, who he targeted via Snapchat and Whatsapp. Following an extensive investigation, further victims were identified who Matthews had targeted using similar methods, and he admitted the following offences:
One count of Caused a child to engage in sexual activity
One count of Threatening to disclose private sexual images with intent
Two counts of Sexual activity with a child
Six counts of Causing or inciting sexual activity with a child
37 counts of Engage in sexual communication with a child
Two counts of Making indecent images of children – Class B
Three counts of Making indecent images of children – Class C
One count of Malicious communications
Matthews was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court today, Friday 17 April. He will also be subject of Sex offender notification for life.
In excerpts from Victim Personal Statements, parents of two of Matthews’ victims discuss the impact of his crimes:
“As a parent it is extremely painful to watch your child try to understand and process something so inappropriate and harmful, when she should have been focussing on growing up, learning and enjoying her childhood, not coping with emotional consequences of someone else’s actions.
“This crime has changed how my child views the world. Trust, once given freely, must now be built slowly and carefully. The psychological effects of this crime are not temporary… healing does not erase the harm that has been done.
“This was not a harmless interaction, this is calculated exploitation that leaves lasting trauma. My child deserved safety, protection and respect, instead she was manipulated and harmed.”
------------------------------
“Our daughter has been deeply affected by what happened. She has experienced anxiety, loss of trust, and a heightened sense of vulnerability. Situations that once felt normal now cause her distress, and her confidence in interacting with others, particularly online, has been shaken. This has had a lasting psychological impact on her day-to-day life.
“We feel that are sense of security has been taken away and replaced with constant concern and self-doubt. We hope the court understands the lasting impact this has had… on our entire family. What has happened cannot simply be undone. It has changed how our daughter sees the world and how we, as her parents, are able to support her growing independence.”
------------------------------
Speaking after the sentencing, investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Amie Jones from CCSET, said: “Matthews has been proven to be a prolific, calculated and dangerous offender, who caused extreme harm to his victims through coercion and abuse. We hope that today’s outcome provides a measure of comfort as they continue their recovery, and some reassurance that Matthews will be in custody for a significant length of time.
“As the investigation progressed, we were able to identify more of his victims. I want to take this opportunity to praise each of them and their families for their courage and strength in helping with our enquiries. We do not take for granted how difficult it can be to speak about being a victim of sexual abuse, and to provide evidence to police.
“Be assured that in all such investigations, our specialist team is here to support victims with sensitivity and compassion, every step of the way, from the initial report through to court proceedings. I would continue to urge anyone who is a victim of any form of sexual abuse to please report this to police, or through our partner agencies.
“We take all such reports extremely seriously, and in addition, work with partner organisations such as Victim care Support Service and RASA who are there to support victims of this crime.”
