Two hundred kilometres brought me to the centre of Lubny.

I stood before a memorial to Ukraine’s fallen soldiers, facing the image of Oleksandr Matsievskyi the man whose final words were:

“Glory to Ukraine.”

And across this country, soldiers answered:

“Glory to the heroes.”

Those words are not a slogan to us.

They are a promise.

A promise that the fallen will be remembered.

A promise that those still fighting will not be abandoned. A promise that no soldier will carry this war completely alone.

Because sometimes, being a soldier is lonely.

You can feel separated from the society you are defending, as though you are standing just outside of it. But between soldiers, there is an unspoken bond. We recognize something in one another, the exhaustion, the fear, the grief, and the strange new gratitude for the smallest pieces of life.

A hot meal. A safe night. A familiar voice. One more sunrise.

These 200 kilometres changed me.
Along the road, soldiers have stopped to tell me their stories. Men carrying the scars of this war smiled at me, shook my hand, hugged me, and thanked me.

Not because I am walking.

Because I stand with them.

Every one of them.

Some people may never understand why this journey matters. But Ukrainians understand. They come to me on the road. They hug me. They cry with me. They trust me with their memories, their pain, and the names of people they have lost.

I carry those names with me.

This walk is for Oleksandr. It is for the fallen. It is for those still holding the line. It is for every soldier who has ever felt forgotten by the society they are fighting to protect.

Two hundred kilometres behind me.

And I carry every one of them forward.

🇺🇦🇷🇺🇰🇵 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Russia is preparing for a major escalation of the war, including a new wave of mobilization and deeper military cooperation with North Korea.

According to Zelensky, Ukrainian intelligence has obtained comprehensive information on Moscow's plans for the autumn. He stated that Vladimir Putin is laying the groundwork for an expanded mobilization, preparing to send more Russians into the war while masking the effort through different rhetoric and political messaging.

Zelensky also claimed that Russia intends to receive an additional 30,000 North Korean troops, with preparations reportedly underway in Russia's Voronezh region to accommodate their arrival.

In addition, he said North Korea is preparing to supply Russia with new ballistic missile launch systems, while Moscow continues to help Pyongyang improve its military capabilities by providing battlefield experience, weapons development, and operational expertise.

Zelensky concluded by saying that Ukraine is aware of these plans and will continue to resist them.

If these assessments prove accurate, they would signal a significant deepening of the Russia-North Korea military partnership. Beyond reinforcing Russia's manpower, the cooperation could accelerate North Korea's military modernization by exposing its forces and weapons to real combat conditions, creating long-term security implications that extend far beyond the war in Ukraine.

🇪🇪🇪🇺Kaja Kallas was born on June 18, 1977, in Tallinn into a family deeply scarred by Soviet occupation. Her mother, Kristi, was only six months old when she, along with her mother and grandmother, was deported to Siberia’s Krasnoyarsk region in cattle wagons. They spent ten years there before finally returning to Estonia in 1959.
That family history of survival shaped Kallas into one of Europe’s strongest voices against Russian aggression — a stance that earned her the nickname “Europe’s Iron Lady” after she became Estonia’s first female prime minister in January 2021.
She studied law at University of Tartu, graduating in 1999, and later earned an Executive MBA from the Estonian Business School in 2010 while building a successful career as a competition lawyer and partner at major law firms.
Her father, Siim Kallas, served as Prime Minister of Estonia and later Vice-President of the European Commission. For many years, this actually pushed Kaja away from politics because she did not want to spend her life being compared to her father.
She played drums, loved dancing, and by age 27 had already become a partner in a law firm where the other partners were over 60 and spent their days golfing — making her question whether that was really the life she wanted.
That restlessness pushed her into politics in 2010. Within a year she entered parliament, and later became a member of the European Parliament for the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe from 2014 to 2018, where Politico named her one of Brussels’ most influential women.
In 2018, she married her second husband, Arvo Hallik, while raising a blended family with two children and navigating the collapse of her first coalition government, the global pandemic, and the highest inflation in the European Union.
When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Kallas pushed Estonia to donate more than 1% of its GDP in support of Ukraine — a larger share than any other country. She repeatedly argued that every weapon sent to Ukraine weakens the enemy while strengthening Estonia’s own security.

The heated debate surrounding Wildberries—whether it was a crime or not, whether it was legitimate or illegitimate, the complaints along the lines of "Why us?" ("We were only selling diapers") and the appeals to sympathy—is nothing more than an attempt to distract from a simple, obvious fact: After five years of war, during which Russia has sought—and continues to seek, day after day (truly *every single day*)—to literally force Ukraine to its knees, it is simply absurd to debate the legitimacy or illegitimacy of these attacks.

I could cite a million reasons why this is legitimate, but—I repeat—that makes absolutely no difference. What matters is the price of the war—a price Ukraine is trying to drive up massively in order to end the conflict.

The man who instigated all this could literally put an end to it with the snap of his fingers. So let him snap—and do it quickly—while there is still something left.

A rare large-scale Russian armored assault took place in the Azov Corps sector near Shakhove on July 22, involving forces from Russia’s 8th and 41st Armies and the 90th Tank Division.
