#Eritrea: Statement by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh at high-level plenary meeting on addressing the existential threats posed by sea level rise
*"...Coastal States like Eritrea must diligently address the impacts of sea-level rise, as it poses a direct threat to our coastal communities, marine ecosystems, and development aspirations. It is, therefore, prudent to strengthen coastal adaptation, disaster risk reduction, resilient infrastructure, ecosystem protection, land-use planning, and early warning systems".
*"...Eritrea has put in place protective and conservatory measures. We are expanding marine and island protected areas, restoring coral reefs, mangroves, and coastal vegetation as natural climate buffers, and advancing a sustainable National Blue Economy strategy that safeguards marine resources while supporting local livelihoods".
*"...Eritrea emphasizes the need for stable maritime zones and guarantees for the sovereign rights of coastal States over their maritime spaces. Parts of Eritrea’s territory consist of low-lying and sandy coastal areas at constant risk from erosion. Eritrea therefore stresses that baselines and maritime boundaries are preserved and that the sovereign and jurisdictional rights of coastal States over their maritime spaces, in accordance with international law, are protected".
*"...Littoral States have a vital and indispensable role in securing and promoting a sustainable and stable maritime ecosystem".

*"...International cooperation should support, not replace, national capacity. It must also address the inequalities in technology, production and access that became so clear during COVID-19".
*"...The real measure of progress will be whether all countries are better able to protect their populations when the next health emergency comes".

International Day of Persons with disabilities commemorated today at Asmara Palace under the mantra: " Promoting equitable and all-rounded participation of persons with disabilities in all sectors of development".
Key Note address by Mr. Mihreteab Fissehaie, Director General at the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare. Mr. Mihreteab underlined that Eritrean Customary & Contemporary Laws have for centuries guaranteed the equity and dignity of persons with disabilities with punitive measures against any stigmatization and discrimination. These laws, which stem from and are embedded in society's cultural values and practices, pre-date their recognition and popularization through international platforms.
UNICEF Resident Representative, Mr. Abdullahi Mohamed, re-affirmed the UN's continued global commitment for enhancing equal opportunities in education and health for persons with disabilities to bolster their dignity as well as positive contributions to national development.
Good Read: #Eritrea’s Sovereignty and the Myth of Ethiopia’s “Lost Coast”; by Abdu Osman
"...Overall, Eritrea’s coastline is not a matter of debate, it is the sovereign territory of a recognized state. Discussions about Ethiopia’s trade limitations, economic ambitions, or regional security must be grounded in diplomacy, respect for international law, and recognition of Eritrea’s independence. Eritrea’s liberation, referendum, and international recognition are enduring facts; its sovereignty over the Red Sea coast remains legally and morally unassailable (UNMEE, 1993; UNSC Resolution 795, 1992; UNGA Resolution 1514, 1960). Hence, it is time for the Ethiopian leadership to stop wasting time on gimmicks and futile efforts to locate a fictional document, as decolonization never requires any document to end colonial rule and occupation".

#Eritrea Unyielding: Defending Sovereignty Against Ethiopia’s Recycled Ambitions; Research and Information Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 23 November 2025
*...The orchestrated chorus of statements and reports is a futile attempt to recast Ethiopia as a de facto Red Sea key stakeholder. Its 'sovereign' port-access arguments, framed through selective invocations of security, historical memory, and economic necessity, are legally untenable. They deliberately omit foundational facts: the inviolability of State sovereignty; the African Union and United Nations Charters’ norms on territorial integrity; and the conflation of legitimate development needs with extraterritorial claims no regional or international framework can legitimize".
*...Coastal States bear primary responsibility for the security, management, and stewardship of their own coastlines. Ethiopia, as a landlocked state, cannot assume the role of Viceroy over Eritrea’s sovereign maritime domain. Yet, in a predictable pattern, these threats are framed not as genuine calls for regional cooperation but as a pretext for advancing Ethiopian illicit claims. Proponents suggest that Ethiopia’s need to 'protect regional commerce' legitimizes a permanent maritime presence along Eritrea’s coast, a reinterpretation that would effectively override Eritrea’s sovereignty".
*"...Revisionism peaks with the claim that 'the Eritrean colony was deliberately created to block Ethiopia’s access to the sea'; a historically false and legally absurd notion. Eritrea’s borders were established through international treaties and in accordance with normative State-formation processes in modern day African nations. Eritrea is not an 'anti-Ethiopian construct'; it emerged through protracted historical and legal processes; occupation under various colonizers; UN-imposed Federation, resistance to illegal annexation, an internationally supervised referendum, and UN admission".
*"...Cross-border kinship exists across Africa; it does not confer a right to annex. Indeed, Ethiopia itself would be severely balkanized if this logic is pushed to its limits. Oil-rich Ogaden would be incorporated into Somalia; Benishangul into South Sudan etc. By invoking Afar identity, Ethiopia seeks to frame Eritrea’s sovereign coastline as a natural entitlement. Statehood and littoral status are legal facts, not demographic or emotional constructs. Ethiopia’s size does not convert a landlocked state into a littoral one".
*... Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion’s mockery of the Nakfa Principles as a 'syndrome' is revealing. Nakfa embodies self-reliance, discipline, resilience, and national sacrifice, the very values that have allowed Eritrea to maintain stability and sovereignty despite decades of external aggression. By dismissing Nakfa as a 'syndrome', Gedion exposes not Eritrea’s shortcomings, but Ethiopia’s discomfort with a neighbor whose discipline, independence, and cohesive national ethos it cannot easily comprehend. Where Medemer remains a rhetorical project, Nakfa is a lived reality: a blueprint of survival, governance, and unwavering defense of the people and the State".

Funeral Services for Bereket Mengisteab - one of Eritrea's legendary and greatest artists - held at noon today at Asmara's Patriots Cemetery in the presence of President Isaias Afwerki, senior Government and PFDJ officials, Religious leaders, and his family
‘I told Abiy to stop his rhetoric and to come and negotiate for access to the sea, but that’s not what he wants! He wants to annex a peace of land, and I am telling you that’s a dream that will never happen.’ #Somalia President
Abiy Ahmed, in his recent parliamentary “talk-show,” proudly announced that he had asked multiple countries—including the #AU , #US , #Russia, #China, and the EU—to mediate his claims for access to the sea with Eritrea.
What he conveniently didn’t mention during his live-streamed address is what response, if any, he received for this audacious call asking #Eritrea to relinquish its sovereign coastline.
Even more telling, no nation has stepped in to mediate. Instead, statements from the UK, US, and Russia emphasize that #Ethiopia, as a landlocked country, must respect international law regarding access to coastal states and their ports.
From this, one can reasonably infer that the “response” Abiy left out was likely a polite but firm message: return home and stop embarrassing yourself—and your allies—by making unrealistic claims over sovereign territory.

The Eritrean people live together, whether Muslim or Christian, there is no difference. They are one people, they eat from the same plate. You won't find this anywhere else, where Muslims and Christians eat from the same plate.#Eritrea#EritreaPrevails
Abiy is beyond contempt, and his own recorded speeches lay bare— in stark detail — his acts of betrayal.
In this clip from the 2023 Tigray war, at a moment when the AU and numerous embassies were preparing to leave Addis Ababa, he made the following remarks...
'It was a time we witnessed our few but unflinching friends. and we say to them #Ethiopia is a history maker and never forgets its history, and will pay its debt and want to express a huge gratitude.
During this difficult times, very few countries, who did not abandon Ethiopia, in a way that is difficult to believe
during our misery, pressure and difficulty, not only did they stand with us, but who shared from what they have, wiped our tears, filled our short supplies."
And now he has the audacity to disparage and invade the very country that, in the eyes of many, kept him from being deposed and fleeing alongside those departing embassies and the AU. #EritreaPrevails

Foreign interference is one of the factors contributing to instability in the Horn of Africa.
The Red Sea is an important waterway for all countries in the world, not only for the regional states.
Sudan’s security is essential for achieving stability in the region.

Potemkin Party (PP) trolls feign annoyance, get into hysterical commotion, and disparage Eritrea's routine diplomatic activities and/or Presidential visits to some country. And they have the audacity to portray Eritrea as a "lackey and doing the bidding of" some foreign country; these days, the tantrum is on "Eritrea-Egypt" ties!
Need to remind them to swallow these dosage of reality in historical terms. Indeed:
* It is the Ethiopian regime which solicited the diplomatic and political clout of the US to suppress Eritrea's right of decolonization in the 1940s. The overwhelming historical evidence on these machinations have since long been available in the public domain.
*Ethiopian regimes relied on US and Israeli military and technical support in the first decades; and on USSR (and Allies) massive military support in the later decades in their attempts to defeat Eritrea's thirty year war of national liberation. This is yesterday's history fresh in the minds of the contemporary generation (including Gen Z) and that cannot be whimsically erased or wished away.
*Even these days, the Potemkin Party relies heavily on massive international development assistance; opaque ties of dependence on some countries; and IMF bailouts as it pursues belligerent, reckless and unlawful policies against its neighbour under the agenda of "sovereign access to the sea".
Eritrea's policy choices of self-respect and political independence are otherwise well known to merit elaboration.

The people of Eritrea had to win a long and bitter war of liberation to assert their right to self-determination - an inalineable right that they were denied in 1940s and 50s to satisfy the geopolitical interests of the US in the Red Sea.
