Inner London Fed Rep. Doing my best to look after the brave, hardworking boys and girls of the Met. Tweets not the official views of @MPFed or @PFEW_HQ
Serving MPS federated ranks:
Please don’t get caught out. Until April 1st this year, Met officers were covered for off duty matters (arrests, traffic, civil disputes & more) and this was paid for by the @MPFed
On April 1st, the funding rules were changed by @PFEW_HQ
There have been numerous comments on this - that the officer should be arrested, prosecuted, suspended, summarily dismissed. Some of this is not possible or may not be appropriate. 1/
Today we have released a video featuring @millerjessicak, Director of Research at @policecareuk, providing practical advice for frontline officers on how they can manage the difficult situations and feelings they face during this challenging period.

Ken tells Julia: We are now being asked to make dynamic decisions, risk assessing each situation as to whether PPE is needed. If my colleagues feel far safer wearing a mask, then let's let them wear one. Let’s procure the masks and allow them to wear them.
Officers from SW MSC patrolling parks and communal areas today around Merton and Wandsworth, keeping Londoners safe. Thank you for respecting the lockdown #StayHomeSaveLives
@E_bygum That’s fair, I wasn’t aware of his background, but all I can say is he was decent and fair with the cases I took his way. Beyond that, I have no experience of how he was, but that’s disappointing to hear
Have always found Martin Hewitt to be a thoroughly decent and fair man every time I have taken a probationer to see him for a Reg 13 appeal and other dealings. He’s one of the good ones
Chairman Ken Marsh on @talkRADIO. “We are getting there but I don’t think we have enough Protective Equipment. But the whole world wants what we want.” Ken emphasises importance of PPE for colleagues: “We struggle to self distance because of the nature of being a police officer.”
@London_lad01 (My serious answer is that he is very fair... that doesn’t mean that he done what I wanted him to every time, but that when he made a decision that I may not have liked, he done so in a decent and fair way)
Fully operational ventilators from the Holby City set arrived at the new Nightingale Hospital yesterday.
@BBCCasualty & @BBCHolbyCity Exec Producer Simon Harper said: "We are only too happy to help out and do what we can for the courageous and selfless real life medics."
Unless you can keep a social distance of 2 metres or more from your colleagues and any member of the public, then we strongly recommend that you should wear a face mask in order to keep you, your colleagues and the public safe. - @PFEW_Chair

@ForeheadMonkeys @PFEW_Chair Please please please complete a near miss for everyone single call you attend and every parade where you don’t have PPE. And email your local rep so they can take it up too.
@ForeheadMonkeys @PFEW_Chair @MPFed If a supervisor wants to try and discipline an officer for using PPE to protect themselves, you’d better believe that officer will be backed.
I would imagine (hope) that there isn’t a supervisor out there that would try and stick somebody on for this
@Drac49 @iofiv @PFEW_Chair We’re closer than 2m to one another on patrol. The advice around wearing masks is to mitigate the risk of being unable to practice social distancing when on patrol, as much to protect our operator or driver as ourselves
