Caroline Lucas: "We need to recognise that what happened on the streets of Belfast was being orchestrated by the far right, by Elon Musk, by a network of people who actually want this to happen, so it wasn't quite as spontaneous as it looked.. and that has to be stopped"
This is possibly the saddest thing I've seen in a long time..an immigrant nurse talking about fleeing her home..she saved her UNIFORM. So she could still WORK for our communities.
I'd fill this country with a thousand of this woman than one of those good for nothing thugs.
God help this poor woman.

You see these scenes from Belfast?
That's our future if Reform, Restore, the Tories, GB News, Elon Musk and the right-wing media get their way.
Except this will be on a much bigger scale.
We have to decide: do we want those inciting hatred to destroy our country?
What happened in Belfast was what Lucy Connolly called for in Southport.
She was, quite rightly jailed.
Only for Reform to give her a heroes welcome at their conference, which normalised and applauded racial incitement.
Now look at where we are.
It’ll be lynchings next.

Rivers around the world are quietly running out of oxygen, and climate change is emerging as the main culprit. A sweeping global analysis of more than 21,000 river systems found that nearly 80% have been steadily losing dissolved oxygen over the past four decades, threatening fish, biodiversity, and the overall health of freshwater ecosystems. Tropical rivers are being hit the hardest, even more than rivers in rapidly warming polar regions.

🚨🏴🗣 Stop the Data Centre Monster in the Scottish Borders!
A £2 billion industrial scale data centre is being pushed for a beautiful rural spot west of Duns, between Longformacus and Westruther in the Lammermuirs.
Developers call it "Southside" and promise jobs and wind powered operations, but this proposal risks turning one of Scotland’s most stunning landscapes into a concrete eyesore.
Campaigners from Save the Lammermuirs Stop the Data Centre are right to call it what it is a monster.
At 24 metres high, these massive buildings would drain electricity, dominate the views, and fundamentally change the character of this peaceful rural area.
Data centres typically create hundreds of temporary construction jobs, but only a small number of permanent operational jobs once built (often just 25 to 100 staff for maintenance and security). The developers’ claim of ~145 permanent local jobs is still very low for a £2 billion project that would industrialise a large rural site.
Reports from the US highlight further serious concerns constant noise pollution from fans and generators disrupts sleep, causes stress, anxiety, headaches, and other health issues for nearby residents.
Light pollution and habitat disruption harm wildlife affecting both nocturnal animals (like bats and owls) and daytime species (birds, insects, mammals) by interfering with natural behaviours, migration, breeding, and foraging.
This is the wrong development in the wrong place no matter how much they talk about "green roofs" or blending in.
AI needs infrastructure, but not by sacrificing irreplaceable countryside, dark skies, and wildlife habitats that locals and future generations cherish.
We’ve seen this story before: big promises of economic revival that deliver noise, traffic, visual blight, and long term damage to tourism and quality of life, while the real profits flow elsewhere.
What residents can do to reject this proposal:
Attend the public consultations and make your voice heard loud and clear.
Longformacus Village Hall: Thursday (this week), 13:00 to 19:00
Westruther Village Hall: 10 June, 13:00 to 19:00
Contact your Scottish Borders Council councillors and local MSPs immediately urge them to oppose any planning application.
Join or support the Save the Lammermuirs Stop the Data Centre group.
Share this widely, sign petitions if they appear, and rally your neighbours.
This isn’t inevitable.
Strong local opposition can stop irresponsible developments like this. Protect the Borders’ landscape, character, wildlife, and future say NO to the data centre monster.

This is really stupid, and it’s not getting enough attention.
The Trump administration is pulling a working $368 million ocean monitoring system out of the water, equipment taxpayers already bought, built, and sank into the deep ocean.
And they are doing it right when the oceans are behaving in ways that alarm the scientists who study them.
Record-breaking temperatures.
A system of Atlantic currents that may be lurching toward collapse.
The response?
Yank out the instruments and walk away.
That is not budgeting. That is smashing the gauges while the engine is on fire and calling it efficiency.
For what? The Trump administration dressed it up as a “nimbler approach” and “smart lifecycle management,” which is fancy nonsense for “we shut it off and hoped nobody would ask why.” There is no return-on-investment analysis. They cannot show taxpayers save a dime, because the gear is already paid for and the science it produces protects real money and real lives.
The kicker: the same people killing the monitors want to mine the deep sea for minerals. So they are destroying the only tools that could measure what that mining does. That is not an accident.
That is the point. You cannot see the damage if you break the instruments first.

So let me get this straight:
When immigrants take jobs, it’s a national crisis.
When AI takes jobs, it’s innovation.
Can someone explain why we’re supposed to fear people willing to work, but celebrate technology designed to replace workers?
IMPORTANT: Is potentially unsurvivable global warming of 2.5-3°C by 2045-69 likely? We can now anticipate Earth's Climate Sensitivity to be 3.5-4.5°C, so.. yes.
Such a sad photo. Two scientists on a remote island collect seeds from the last known example in the world of a type of tree, hoping to preserve it.
Imagine being beside the last known of anything in the world. A humbling experience

Ireland’s datacentres used 22% of the country’s electricity last year, more than all urban homes combined. And the number is still growing.

Told you.
And this is why, as the reality becomes clear, journalists are going to be amongst the most hated people on Earth. The media has totally failed to inform and educate the public about what we face.
