The root of cruelty to animals, greed, gluttony, numbness of heart, and the destruction of the earth is not mere habit or culture.
It is a heart that has turned away from God and chosen self instead.
Jesus described the condition of such a heart when he said, “Out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander” (Matthew 15:19).
This does not mean the heart is forever closed.
The same Jesus also said the kingdom of God is near and offered to every person.
The heart that produces harm can be turned; the kingdom is not locked out of it. It is refused or received.
Jesus taught that these choices are not confined to this life.
Every act of greed, every refusal of mercy, every willful harm done to the creatures and the world God made is stored up for the day when the secrets of the heart are judged. He declared, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy” (Matthew 5:7), and warned, “With the measure you use it will be measured to you” (Matthew 7:2).
He cautioned, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions” (Luke 12:15), and told of the rich fool who stored up treasures only for himself and was called a fool by God that very night (Luke 12:16–21).
He also told of the rich man who lived in luxury while ignoring the suffering at his gate and found himself in torment beyond this life (Luke 16:19–31).
The rule of darkness over a human soul is temporary in this age — it does not have the final word. It can be broken.
Those who remain under it, clinging to ego, greed, numbness, and cruelty, will face the lasting consequences of that choice beyond this earthly life.
Those who hand these things over — who repent, practice mercy, deny self, and treat creation as God’s rather than as property to exploit — are transferred into the kingdom that does not end.
The darkness is temporary; the kingdom of God is forever.
Jesus’ command is therefore simple and absolute:
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17).
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37–39).
“Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness” (Matthew 6:33).
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” (Mark 8:34).
Show mercy.
Live as a steward, not an owner — for even the sparrows are not forgotten before God (Matthew 10:29), and the earth belongs to the Lord.
These are not suggestions for a better earthly life alone.
They are the path that leads beyond this realm, into the presence of the One who made both the sparrows and the earth, and who will ask an account of every heart.

"375 DOGS. OVER 100 DEAD. They never even made it off the truck.

A red Sichuan-registered truck carried 375 dogs crammed inside a sealed cargo compartment. They could barely move, let alone breathe fresh air.

Animal protection activists pursued the truck for hundreds of kilometres, from Yunnan to Guangxi. Yet this shipment of dogs reportedly transported without quarantine clearance travelled over 2,000 kilometres across provincial borders.

Authorities inspected the truck THREE times. THREE times, it was allowed to continue.

In Guangxi, reports even emerged that the truck might be sent back to Kunming.

With no other option, the Lao Feng Yang rescue team spent RMB 180,000 of their own money to buy all the dogs from the traders.

But when the dogs were counted, more than 100 were already dead.

Over 100 lives lost before the truck doors were even opened.

Rescuers paid to save lives. Who will be held accountable for the repeated inspections and releases?

We need more than rescue. We need answers, investigations and accountability.

Dogs are not Food! Regulation must not be a dead letter.

I write to urge the Government of Mauritius to abolish, with immediate effect, the capture, breeding and export of long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) for biomedical research and toxicity testing.

Long-tailed macaques are highly intelligent, socially sophisticated primates. They live in complex multi-male, multi-female groups with clear dominance hierarchies, lasting alliances, and individual relationships they track and remember. They communicate with a rich repertoire of facial expressions, gestures, and vocalizations, resolve conflicts through reconciliation, and show strong maternal bonds and cooperative behaviors. Their capacity for problem-solving, observational learning, and social cognition places them among the most advanced non-human animals.

Mauritius is the world’s leading exporter of these animals.

CITES trade data show that more than 103,000 long-tailed macaques were exported between 2015 and 2023, with annual volumes frequently exceeding 10,000.

Large numbers have been taken from the wild or are first-generation offspring of wild-caught animals.

The species is listed as Endangered by the IUCN and has been on CITES Appendix II since 1977.

Export permits for Appendix II species require a Non-Detriment Finding confirming that trade will not be detrimental to the species’ survival.

Official statements that such findings are unnecessary because the Mauritian population is considered “invasive” are inconsistent with CITES requirements.

The trade also involves systematic animal cruelty and severe suffering that is incompatible with Mauritius’s Animal Welfare Act: trapping that causes injury and distress, overcrowded breeding facilities with recurrent disease outbreaks and high mortality, and air transports lasting 40 hours or more with multiple stops.

They are sent of to be tortured under unimaginable suffering for the rest of their life, util killed like garbage.

These practices generate local opposition and ongoing international criticism that damages Mauritius’s reputation as a tourism and environmental destination.

There is no justification for continuing this trade.

Major importing countries are moving toward non-animal methods, and the scientific case for large-scale use of these animals continues to weaken.

Full abolition is both feasible and necessary.

I therefore call on the Government of Mauritius to:
* Immediately ban all further wild capture of long-tailed macaques.
* End, without delay, all breeding and export of these animals for laboratory use.
* Trace ongoing transfers and bring them all back to their original families and forests.
* Reject any expansion of laboratory testing involving macaques on Mauritian soil.

Mauritius has the opportunity to end a practice that is legally questionable, ethically indefensible and damaging to the country’s standing and reputation worldwide.

I urge you to abolish this trade completely.
