@pfeltenNC Thanks for the memories, Peter. That was so much fun! Other schools have used that model after URI's great work! If anyone else wants to try it, email me at [email protected].
@DrLinette I'm so very sorry to hear about your loss. Please know that others are grieving with you as you go through this sorrow. My prayer is that the time will soon come when your wonderful memories will overshadow your pain. Love you so much!
@Doc_Mac19@nzkatj @_Tooth_Fairy__ @herdsa_conf @ITLC_Lilly Thanks so much. I was so honored and humbled to be invited to share my work with amazing faculty like you!
@GeekyPedagogy@ITLC_Lilly@Metacog1 @MDMillerPHD @LangOnCourse @ToddZakrajsek I completely agree! I'm feeling more energetic than I have in months. I love getting new ideas from all different disciplines and then thinking about how I could incorporate them in my own courses.
Today @ITLC_Lilly#lillycon the plenary speakers are @KevinKelly0 and @LillianNave. Yesterday @LangOnCourse and @MDMillerPHD crushed it, and I was still reflecting on great sessions by @Metacog1 and @GeekyPedagogy. All exceptional presenters if you need an online webinar.
@Doc_Mac19 Thanks for the shoutout Clare. You inadvertently left out a word. You meant "...score on test is NOT and indication of how smart you are..." :-)
@BKLNcollegeCASE YES! When we teach students about metacognition we can achieve what I call "metacognitive equity" even though some students have not learned these strategies before college.
I'm so glad you're finding the book helpful. Metacognition really is the key to helping students analyze which specific strategies will help them improve their intelligence.
This is our FAVORITE resource for supporting students in STEM. We find that growth mindset is insufficient to improve performance alone. Students must be able to access metacognition to determine which learning strategies are effective, and change them if not. @Metacog1
Attention @asusols and @ASUTheCollege, this is a must-see talk for all biologists to learn more about structural racism and critical race theory. Please take the time to watch the talk so that we can make #ASU more inclusive and then tag 5 people to pass the message along!
