@MegaMachina I'm a straight dude but for some reason I don't have a severe allergic reaction to seeing a female character that doesn't look like a porn star in video games like these people have.
Starting to think it has nothing to do with being "straight"
@sexytwerp There's a reason alcohol is called a "social lubricant". And for people who have spent their whole lives scared of unmasking out of fear of being seen as 'weird', that lubricant can make all the difference.
Luckily I like being tipsy but hate being drunk, I guess.
@getjjed@funnyToasty I disagree. Generally I think it's immoral to use something that a) screws with a lot of people's livelihoods and b) makes a shittier product than if you just kept those people around
@InverseNinjas That said, I don't think this "Smoking behind the supermarket" anime counts as power fantasy like the generic isekai. It seems just like a typical romantic slice-of-life story.
@InverseNinjas All stories are fantasies. Not all stories are POWER fantasies. A lot of anime is power fantasy in particular.
One of the reasons I like Mob Psycho 100 is the MC is powerful, but then says "my power doesn't make me special" and doesn't abuse his power to "get back" and people.
@okb0803 There's also the fact that in the 1980s, if you imagined a high-tech megacity, you probably imagined something like Tokyo. And so Tokyo was used as an inspiration when designing these fictional cities of the future.
@okb0803 In that era, Japan was seen as an emerging technological powerhouse and was associated with everything futuristic.
A common joke is that "Japan has been in the year 2000 since 1980"
@FishyDomakin The funny thing is that when I played against him he absolutely REFUSED to drop his card no matter how times I beat his ass in Triple Triad and I was like
"Hey, remember that part about you not wanting to die??"
@bitethatscars People really be like "why do gay people get a whole month, why not make it *thing that already has a dedicated month* instead???"
It's like when people say pride month should be veterans month when vets already have a month and two holidays
@BigDickEnvyDad@LilithLovett@gkaplan70873304 I'm not gonna say I believe in the idea of hell or naraka, I kinda hope it doesn't, but if a hell exists it makes a lot more sense for it to be a temporary thing as a karmic result of your wicked actions rather than "whoops you picked the wrong god and now you burn forever"
@LilithLovett@gkaplan70873304 That's basically the Hindu/Buddhist concept of hell (Naraka). It's basically hell, but temporary, and eventually you get to be reborn somewhere else.
Does anybody remember that time the New York Post interviewed this nurse who was doing Only Fans content on the side to help make ends meet and told her "oh yeah we'll keep you anonymous" and then proceeded to publish her full name, location and workplace while slut shaming her?
