A5: It really helped me take a look at my reading conferences a little closer and I love the level by level guide for look-fors. That is going to be a highly used resource in my classroom! I really understand how to look at text in a different way now. #HCPSRead
A2: Ss should learn multiple strategies that lead to an overall goal. Overtime the strategies should become automatic. This is why practice and repetition is crucial! #HCPSRead
A5 There are quite a few different things for Ts to consider when creating their CL. However, one thing to keep in mind is that there is a time and place to level books for Ss for certain reasons. The levels shouldn’t be OE, OU or pigeonhole Ss into a particular level. #hcpsread
A4 Some benefits are the amount of time a shorter text takes to assess a Ss. Ts can assess Ss quicker if they don’t have the time to wait for a Ss to read an entire book. #HCPSRead
A3 The “look fors” give Ts an example of what an “E” response looks like. Then Ts can determine how close a student’s response is and whether or not they are proficient or approaching if not “E”. Looking for patterns helps give Ts an idea of 1/ 2 goals to set for Ss. #HCPSRead
A2 You get to use the whole book as part of the assessment and you get s better picture of the reader. I like the idea of putting ?’s related to the goals throughout the book to assess students. You can keep a pulse on Ss along the entire book. #HCPSRead
A1 You get to know your Ss beyond the traditional ways. I love inviting families into the classroom and the use of letters from parents. I would like my Ss to write to the prompt “I wish my Ts knew...” the Ss can write about their feelings if they can’t talk about them #HCPSRead
FU: The text level is an O, but the Ss is a level P. The Ss clearly states a main idea and shows multiple comparisons and differences. Ss uses varying transition words. Next steps would be to increase the difficulty of the reading. #HCPSRead
A5 The student response captions help provide an anchor for the teacher and expectations with each goal at different grade levels. It’s nice to see where your Ss are at their grade level, prior and beyond. It can help a teacher provide some DI for each goal. #HCPSRead
A4 Range P-S; MI of a whole book changes from L to L, the reader uses pics/words to state MI; KD at level P requires a reader to use pages/sections to gather KD and then, level S the reader has to also draw KD from chapters and connect then back to the MI

A3 I will use the LBL guide example of books to support the readers in my room and will have the guide printed out at my GR table for reference (as suggested last week from our discussion on the fiction LBL guide) #HCPSRead
