This old Pete Buttigieg Commercial is hilarious and it just shows what’s fun and relatable Politician he is even though he can’t make a pretzel or name some dipping sauces, but he still has degrees from Harvard and Oxford.
While welcome, the recognition of a Palestinian State doesn’t mean much if there isn’t a ceasefire in #Gaza, @UNLazzarini tells @BBCJLandale on @bbcnews on the margins of #UNGA80.
The recognition could bring some hope to people living through an unbearable hell.
What is needed is a genuine commitment to a peace process in the region.

Global funding cuts are affecting essential nutrition programmes, putting the most vulnerable children’s lives at risk.
With decades of progress for children now threatened, governments and partners must urgently scale up access to essential child nutrition services. #UNGA
“When governments betray the most basic human values, it is upon us to fix it. We, the people.”
Tonight, @FranceskAlbs, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, gave this powerful speech at the Together for Palestine concert.
Mourning 100s of humanitarians killed this year. This is more than a statistical spike - it is normalization of violence against our community.
Each attack is an attack on all of us. Enough.

These deaths are unconscionable - and could have been prevented.
The UN-led humanitarian response must be allowed to function fully through unfettered aid access to children in need.

UNICEF welcomes the announcement by Israel to implement most urgently needed humanitarian pauses to increase access to deliver aid into and across Gaza.
Since the collapse of the ceasefire in March, children have been trapped in a nightmare and deprived of the basics to survive. They are hungry, traumatized and have no safe place to go. The entire population of over 2 million people in Gaza is severely food insecure. One out of every three people has not eaten for days and 80 per cent of all reported deaths by starvation are children.
This is an opportunity to begin to reverse this catastrophe and save lives.
UNICEF has never stopped delivering. But we can do a lot more if additional designated humanitarian corridors are created to facilitate the movement of our convoys - as well as commercial trucks, which are essential. In July alone, UNICEF has managed to deliver 147 trucks inside Gaza with nutrition supplies, including baby food, milk and high-energy biscuits.
We are ready to increase this number and ensure more life-saving aid enters Gaza at the required scale and bring hope to an exhausted population.
UNICEF continues to call for a ceasefire, the unfettered access of humanitarian aid across Gaza, the protection of children, and the release of all hostages so they can return home to their loved ones.
We are receiving desperate messages of starvation from #Gaza, including from our colleagues.
Food prices have increased 40 fold.
Meanwhile, just outside Gaza, stockpiled in warehouses UNRWA has enough food for the entire population for over three months.
The suffering in Gaza is manmade and must be stopped.
Lift the siege and let aid in safely and at scale.

More children received life-saving vaccines. But millions remain unvaccinated.
Barriers like shrinking budgets, fragile health systems, misinformation & access constraints must be overcome.
No child should die from diseases we know how to prevent.👇 https://t.co/Wa94FsJwHA
“This is the cruel reality confronting many in Gaza today after months of insufficient aid being allowed into the territory, and parties to the conflict failing to uphold basic responsibilities to protect civilians.” - @unicefchief

Eighty years ago, the world turned tragedy into resolve — and captured it in the UN Charter.
A declaration of peace, justice, and shared humanity.
In uncertain times, it remains our compass — and a clarion call to act for we the peoples.
Today we launch our plan to get lifesaving aid to 114m people in greatest need on planet.
We’re forced by cuts to hyper prioritise, but we’re determined to do as much as we can with what we have.
We ask just 1% of what world spent on defence in 2024.
