Minister Gwarube visited St. Paul’s Primary School in Bo Kaap, Cape Town, where she, in partnership with McDonald’s South Africa and MiDesk Global, handed over innovative desks and chairs designed to support learners from Grade 1 to 12. These functional desks, fitted with USB charging ports, were developed by Ms. Talita Boodharam of MiDesk Global, who was inspired to create a solution after seeing children struggle to complete their homework on their laps.
This initiative, championed through the Department of Basic Education’s Rural Education Directorate, aims to enhance access, equity, and quality in rural schools, providing practical support for learners’ academic journeys.
