@fishy_wanda @denmedblommorna @ask_aubry I’m reminded of my father, a military man who did his own fucking ironing of his own fucking uniform. Bless you, Dad, you’re one of the good ones. (But also, I could weep at how low a bar that is—man who takes care of his own clothes and job responsibilities is a catch!)
@HCES_MsBlanton5 @mswashofsky @HortonsCreekES Congratulations! My baby girl was looking forward to this all week, and I got to hear all about it tonight at dinner.
@jmatwood Thank you so much for this thread and explanation. I’ve been thinking on this and wondering why it felt like a record scratch to me (a person without disabilities currently) and this is really enlightening.
@HonestWade @CKawehi13 @angel_wolfhart1 @PastaPrimcess I wasn’t sure what you meant by a bad joke, perhaps? But I think the bigger point stands that women shouldn’t take it anymore, in any sense. I’m glad that doctor shut him down instead of in any way condoning it.
@HonestWade @CKawehi13 @angel_wolfhart1 @PastaPrimcess I did see you said it was bad but sometimes “bad” jokes are still considered funny and belong in some sort of tierdom of jokes, like “dad” jokes, or in your words, “jokes made in poor taste”. Like they’re still supposed to be funny, lighten the mood, *something*.
@HonestWade @CKawehi13 @angel_wolfhart1 @PastaPrimcess “This” being women undergo surgeries and medical care and somebody decides *for them* (though they have been given specific instructions) what it best. Look, I’m not trying to lecture, I just hope you understand why women don’t find jokes like this funny.
@KahleBryant@KAZurcher@sampson_dog The way I would have jumped over seats, people, beverage carts, and been like, “Me! Switch seats with me!!!” Would have scared everybody with my enthusiasm but then I would have scooted my feet over to make room for the best boi.
@hes_the_gay_one@JortsTheCat Hi Katie—I felt very conflicted yesterday about all of this bc I love @JortsTheCat but I’m also working on accessibility at my place of employment so I’m in that space too (I am not myself disabled). Thank you for your perspective.
