Rip currents are powerful water currents that flow away from the shore, capable of carrying even the most experienced swimmers out to sea. Itโs important to learn how to identify and avoid getting caught in rip currents.
Always swim near a lifeguard tower when lifeguards are on duty, and familiarize yourself with the meanings of the flags being flown. If you're unsure about the conditions, ask a lifeguard before entering the water.
When in doubt, stay out.
