This isn't a secret. But it's not as bad as projected. It's also getting offset from increased production from other countries and the Saudi pipeline that runs westbound. But there is significant global demand destruction. This is why oil has gone to $150+ a barrel as some predicted.

Explain to him the euro dollar system and why the dollar will remain relatively resilient as long as it's the reserve currency. Also explain to him how china had a massive debt problem that continues to get subsidized by government finance.

Not only is there not enough power, but the data centers that are supposed to be plugged in in the next 3-5 years aren't being built with nearly $300BN in data centers (6-8GW) canceled or delayed. That's a lot of very expensive chips sitting indefinitely in a warehouse somewhere
