My 2026-27 fall/winter tornado forecast is complete! In it, we analyze the factors that modulate US tornadic activity in the cool season (which I define as October-February) to come up with a forecast for tornado frequency and distribution in the US this fall and winter.
It will be released on YouTube on Wednesday at noon CDT, but it's already available over on my Patreon page, either via membership or one-time purchase: https://t.co/Qa6KIMLmwC

In-depth breakdown of the April 23, 2026, tornado event in northern Oklahoma, which included the Braman EF1 and Enid EF4. We'll take a deep dive into the meteorology behind the setup to determine why these storms were so intense, and we'll analyze a bunch of radar data in search of unique storm interactions, behaviors, and more. This will include an exclusive look at high-resolution data from OU's RaXPol mobile radar that has yet to be released to the public.
Again, we get this, weak, likely EF-0 type of tornado all the time here in IL/the Midwest, and you don't have to report it as a "big time grinder". Tornadoes by definition are a big deal, but as the eyes in the field for the NWS we need to keep it real when reporting.
