The CSIS numbers are brutal for a reason. Russia has burned through over a million casualties, 400-450k dead, and still cannot generate meaningful progress. Their battlefield gains rank among the worst of any major power since 1945. In the first half of 2026 the loss ratio hit 8:1 in Ukraine's favor, with 90 percent of Russian dead and wounded courtesy of Ukrainian drones and robotic systems. Moscow is not winning. It is feeding bodies into a grinder that gets more efficient every month.

This is exactly why Putin cannot stop. The war is the only thing keeping his regime intact. Demobilize a million traumatized conscripts and send them home, and the first question they will ask is what the hell all that meat was for. No face-saving deal fixes that. No phone call, no piece of paper, no Trump-style "art of the deal" theater. Only military defeat on the ground forces the collapse that ends the threat for good. Everything else is Kremlin fan fiction or Western cope.

The report's recommendation is therefore the bare minimum: secondary sanctions on the shadow fleet, on the Chinese and Hong Kong banks that keep it afloat, on anyone laundering Russian oil revenues. Europe and the United States keep pretending sanctions are some kind of gentle pressure instead of economic warfare that must actually bite. They are not. Russian refineries still process, Chinese banks still settle, European politicians still talk about "de-risking" while Russian revenue funds glide bombs over Ukrainian cities.

Ukraine, meanwhile, is doing the work the entire continent should have done in 2014. Every drone strike on a Russian depot, every long-range hit on logistics nodes, every month that grinds another 35-50k orcs is money and blood the West does not have to spend later. This is not charity. This is the cheapest possible insurance policy against a revanchist empire that has already proven it will keep moving west until something physically stops it. The math is merciless: Moscow loses more soldiers taking a village than the village had residents before the war. At that rate their army will run out long before Ukrainian land does.

The isolationists and useful idiots in Washington and Brussels still frame aid as a favor we must repay with minerals, with political concessions, with gratitude on our knees. Wrong direction. Ukraine is absorbing the cost of a war Europe would otherwise be fighting directly, with its own conscripts and on its own territory. The favor runs from Kyiv outward. The only honest policy is to treat Ukraine as the forward-deployed security provider it has become: flood it with weapons, co-produce air defense, Patriots, Gripens, FREYA interceptors, let Ukrainian factories export directly so the revenue subsidizes the fight. Turn frozen Russian assets into shells and drones yesterday.

Putin will not negotiate himself out of power. The Kremlin will keep lying, keep burning villages, keep threatening nuclear blackmail that changes nothing on the front because everyone from Beijing to Brussels knows the consequences would turn Russia into a global pariah and invite conventional retaliation that ends the regime. The only variable left is how much pain Moscow is forced to absorb before that reality becomes policy. Ukraine is ready to deliver it. The question is whether the West grows a spine before the next million-casualty milestone or keeps kicking the can until Russian corpses reach Warsaw.

We do not need lectures. We need ammunition, sanctions with teeth, and the political will to finish the job. Everything short of that is just prolonging the butcher's bill.

Russia’s agricultural sector is on the brink of collapse and even their own senators are now screaming about it in public. At today’s Federation Council session, Viktor Kress from Tomsk bluntly warned that without engine oils and fuel, the entire agro-industrial complex built over years will grind to a halt.

“We will lose everything,” he said, describing the situation as catastrophic. In classic Kremlin fashion, Valentina Matviyenko shot back: don’t exaggerate the drama.

The government is “working on it,” she claimed, though it will “take time. ”
Translation: Russia has burned through its fuel stocks to feed the meat grinder in Ukraine and now the breadbasket is running on fumes.

While Putin pours every last drop of diesel into tanks, artillery, and logistics for his bloody war, Russian farmers can’t harvest their own fields. The combine harvesters will sit silent.

This means Russia will struggle to feed itself and will almost certainly fail to meet its grain export contracts. The aggressor state is eating its own seed corn to sustain its insane imperial war.

Hunger is coming to the “great agricultural power” because every litre of fuel is reserved for killing Ukrainians instead of feeding Russians. Let them reap what they sow.

Just clean, relentless footage of the kind of precision that comes from necessity when your survival depends on it.

This isn't charity porn for Western timelines. It's the brutal math Europe still refuses to do properly. Every drone strike like this is deferred cost avoidance. Moscow wins in Ukraine and the price tag for the next Baltic crisis, the next Polish border incident, the next hybrid blackout in Germany doesn't just double. It multiplies.
