The CSIS numbers are brutal for a reason. Russia has burned through over a million casualties, 400-450k dead, and still cannot generate meaningful progress. Their battlefield gains rank among the worst of any major power since 1945. In the first half of 2026 the loss ratio hit 8:1 in Ukraine's favor, with 90 percent of Russian dead and wounded courtesy of Ukrainian drones and robotic systems. Moscow is not winning. It is feeding bodies into a grinder that gets more efficient every month.
This is exactly why Putin cannot stop. The war is the only thing keeping his regime intact. Demobilize a million traumatized conscripts and send them home, and the first question they will ask is what the hell all that meat was for. No face-saving deal fixes that. No phone call, no piece of paper, no Trump-style "art of the deal" theater. Only military defeat on the ground forces the collapse that ends the threat for good. Everything else is Kremlin fan fiction or Western cope.
The report's recommendation is therefore the bare minimum: secondary sanctions on the shadow fleet, on the Chinese and Hong Kong banks that keep it afloat, on anyone laundering Russian oil revenues. Europe and the United States keep pretending sanctions are some kind of gentle pressure instead of economic warfare that must actually bite. They are not. Russian refineries still process, Chinese banks still settle, European politicians still talk about "de-risking" while Russian revenue funds glide bombs over Ukrainian cities.
Ukraine, meanwhile, is doing the work the entire continent should have done in 2014. Every drone strike on a Russian depot, every long-range hit on logistics nodes, every month that grinds another 35-50k orcs is money and blood the West does not have to spend later. This is not charity. This is the cheapest possible insurance policy against a revanchist empire that has already proven it will keep moving west until something physically stops it. The math is merciless: Moscow loses more soldiers taking a village than the village had residents before the war. At that rate their army will run out long before Ukrainian land does.
The isolationists and useful idiots in Washington and Brussels still frame aid as a favor we must repay with minerals, with political concessions, with gratitude on our knees. Wrong direction. Ukraine is absorbing the cost of a war Europe would otherwise be fighting directly, with its own conscripts and on its own territory. The favor runs from Kyiv outward. The only honest policy is to treat Ukraine as the forward-deployed security provider it has become: flood it with weapons, co-produce air defense, Patriots, Gripens, FREYA interceptors, let Ukrainian factories export directly so the revenue subsidizes the fight. Turn frozen Russian assets into shells and drones yesterday.
Putin will not negotiate himself out of power. The Kremlin will keep lying, keep burning villages, keep threatening nuclear blackmail that changes nothing on the front because everyone from Beijing to Brussels knows the consequences would turn Russia into a global pariah and invite conventional retaliation that ends the regime. The only variable left is how much pain Moscow is forced to absorb before that reality becomes policy. Ukraine is ready to deliver it. The question is whether the West grows a spine before the next million-casualty milestone or keeps kicking the can until Russian corpses reach Warsaw.
We do not need lectures. We need ammunition, sanctions with teeth, and the political will to finish the job. Everything short of that is just prolonging the butcher's bill.
I’m both Polish and Ukrainian, and this hurts.
While people online keep pouring fuel on old wounds, my Polish mother is helping me raise money for Ukrainian soldiers. That’s the reality I live every day.
I’ve watched people turn pain into content, outrage into engagement, and division into their entire message. Meanwhile, Ukrainians are still fighting and dying, and families like mine are trying to help however we can.
If your words leave Poles and Ukrainians hating each other more than they did before, ask yourself who that actually serves.
I refuse to let anyone convince me that the people standing beside me in support of Ukraine are my enemy. 🇵🇱🇺🇦
The recent CUSMA statements from Pete Hoekstra reveal a deep, masked anxiety within Washington, where his optimistic rhetoric is clearly veiled in fear because Canada has structurally moved past its total reliance on the U.S.
The Americans are visibly nervous because they know Canada has aggressively forged ahead by securing alternative, highly lucrative global trade networks, successfully establishing 15 active free trade agreements spanning 51 countries.
While con-bros and separatist critics blindly attack the government and fail to admit that PM Carney operates with fierce fiscal conservatism to inject this immense wealth into the domestic economy, U.S. reps are quietly voicing immense concern over Canada’s independent path.
Disillusioned by toxic administrative mismanagement and erratic trade volatility in Washington, Canada and its trustworthy global allies have now successfully pioneered a massive economic pivot toward stable, normalized trade relations.
This global defection is already fracturing the fragile American economy, where uncomfortably slow growth and staggering June job losses—collapsing to a mere 57,000 positions—confirm that the world is actively turning away from a volatile nation.
By prioritizing reliable international partnerships over American economic chaos, Canada has confidently secured its fiscal future, leaving a panicked United States scrambling to protect its fracturing financial interests.
In ways, after all of the rhetoric and the insults from the Americans towards the Canadians, many are finding this satisfying.
Others just turn away in disgust from a terribly managed nation that was once respected.
Canada is moving on.

Russia’s agricultural sector is on the brink of collapse and even their own senators are now screaming about it in public. At today’s Federation Council session, Viktor Kress from Tomsk bluntly warned that without engine oils and fuel, the entire agro-industrial complex built over years will grind to a halt.
“We will lose everything,” he said, describing the situation as catastrophic. In classic Kremlin fashion, Valentina Matviyenko shot back: don’t exaggerate the drama.
The government is “working on it,” she claimed, though it will “take time. ”
Translation: Russia has burned through its fuel stocks to feed the meat grinder in Ukraine and now the breadbasket is running on fumes.
While Putin pours every last drop of diesel into tanks, artillery, and logistics for his bloody war, Russian farmers can’t harvest their own fields. The combine harvesters will sit silent.
This means Russia will struggle to feed itself and will almost certainly fail to meet its grain export contracts. The aggressor state is eating its own seed corn to sustain its insane imperial war.
Hunger is coming to the “great agricultural power” because every litre of fuel is reserved for killing Ukrainians instead of feeding Russians. Let them reap what they sow.
Kasparov: The only thing that can make Russians understand the empire is dead — a Ukrainian flag in Sevastopol. Crimea is the sacred core of the imperial idea.
Liberation of Crimea is exactly the shock needed for Russians to realize: it's over. Start again from scratch. 2/
The stable video feed from a drone that doesn't crap out mid-flight used to be a luxury. Now it's just Tuesday for Ukrainian operators. That Feniks unit turned a Russian convoy into a rolling funeral procession, with orcs literally tumbling out the backs of their trucks like discarded cargo. No Hollywood edits, no shaky cam excuses. Just clean, relentless footage of the kind of precision that comes from necessity when your survival depends on it.
This isn't charity porn for Western timelines. It's the brutal math Europe still refuses to do properly. Every drone strike like this is deferred cost avoidance. Moscow wins in Ukraine and the price tag for the next Baltic crisis, the next Polish border incident, the next hybrid blackout in Germany doesn't just double. It multiplies. The orcs have already shown their hand. They don't stop at one neighbor. Imperial projects don't have off switches. They have pauses.
The innovation loop is viciously elegant. Ukrainian engineers under fire iterate faster than NATO procurement committees can schedule their next diversity workshop. While Brussels debates whether 2% GDP on defense is too mean to Moscow, Ukrainian teams are turning commercial parts into systems that make Russian logistics burn. And yes, the donation link for more of these isn't a favor. It's an investment with the best ROI on European security you'll find this decade. Your taxes are already paying for the alternative. It's called "rebuilding whatever Moscow leaves standing after round two."
The Kremlin still pushes the line that this is all about NATO expansion and legitimate security concerns. Translation: we have the right to spheres of influence that include your capital, your language, your children, and your future. Anyone still laundering this narrative after twelve years of hybrid war escalating to full invasion is either on payroll or too ideologically constipated to admit reality. Moscow isn't a normal state with normal neighbors. It's an empire project that requires vassals. Ukraine's existence as a sovereign democracy is an ontological threat to their entire model.
That's why the only conversation worth having is how to accelerate the collapse. Not manage it. Not freeze it. Collapse. The USSR didn't take Europe down with it. A dozen smaller states from a fractured Moscow federation wouldn't either. The useful idiots screaming about "destabilization" somehow never apply that logic to the empire currently destabilizing the entire continent with glide bombs and North Korean meat.
We don't need lectures about negotiation from people whose idea of peace is Ukraine permanently disarmed on Moscow's terms. The math is simpler than their coping mechanisms. Moscow loses this war on the battlefield or Europe loses the next one closer to home. There is no third door. The drones keeping perfect picture while turning convoys into scrap are proof that one side has already chosen. The question is whether the rest of you grow the spine to match the investment or keep pretending this is someone else's problem.
Your move, Europe. The orcs are bleeding out in real time. Help make it terminal.
Op weg naar Oekraïne🇺🇦. Lange rijen vrachtwagens voor de grens. Hulpgoederen en allerlei dagelijkse goederen om Oekraïne te laten functioneren. Militaire transporten gaan in stilte de grens over. Heel Europa helpt. De open grenzen naar de EU🇪🇺 zijn van levensbelang voor Oekraïne.
@bayraktar_1love This is a map of Crimea's railway network.
I don't think everyone realizes how significant the destruction of this railway bridge is. It effectively severs the rail connection between Crimea and Russia via the Kerch Bridge. Trains can no longer reach southern Ukraine via Crimea
Dear Poles and Ukranians, Hitler and Stalin were your greatest enemies during last century. Now Musk, Putin and Trump want to end your democracies. We Fellas are fighting them every single day. The Kremlin is very happy watching you fighting each other. 🇵🇱🇺🇦❤️💛
@TankerFella I imagine a lot of FORMER soviet citizens aka Ukrainians would know what goes on in those closed cities and where they are roughly, that is good for the Ukrainians and really too bad for the russians
When the Russo-Ukrainian war ends, Ukraine will emerge as Europe’s most battle-tested military power.
The irony is extraordinary.
Russia invaded Ukraine to keep it weak, dependent, and outside the Western sphere.
Instead, it forged a hardened nation, armed it, united it, and turned it into a major military power.
Few strategic mistakes in modern history can compete with that.
