We have a priest in upstate New York who's been trying for eleven years to become a citizen.. He is on the verge of not being able to stay. He serves three communities in upstate New York.. One my hometown.. Pillar of the community , a great example of who should be able to become a citizen.

I've never met the man. I do not live there anymore , but am practicing Catholic and attend in Saratoga. However , I do think this is a very important cause.. I tagged the President, Elise and others on virtually every social media platform I belong too.. Started yesterday and continue today. This is the kind of person who deserves to become a citizen.. who contributes to the community.

"We need our community to step up and help Father Mendenel.

Father Medenel Angrand, is the pastor of three parishes, St. Mary’s Church in Ticonderoga, Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Schroon Lake, and Sacred Heart Church in Crown Point.

Father Mendenel came legally to the United States from Haiti eleven years ago. Since then, he has faithfully and lovingly ministered to our three parish communities, providing essential pastoral and spiritual care.

Father Medenel applied for adjustment of status to become a permanent resident (Green Card holder) four years ago, but his application is still pending. On September 11, 2024, he also applied to renew his Employment Authorization, yet that application remains stalled as well.

If his Green Card or work permit extension is not approved soon, Father Medenel will be forced to step away from his pastoral duties in our communities and may have to leave by the end of May. This would cause a serious loss to our parishes, depriving us of his critically needed ministry and pastoral leadership.

I respectfully ask for your support to contact Senators Shumer and Gillibrand and Congressperson Stefanik to urge the USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) to act diligently on Father Medenel’s pending Green Card and Employment Authorization applications.
