I totally agree, class size always matters. Think about the big state college & their giant lecture halls. I enjoy creating a connection with my professors, it helps me further understand the material & to show them I care about what they are sharing with us. #20ed215
@cj_kiddy I like this example of how teachers do go above & beyond. It put a smile on my face early this Sunday morning. I also hope to bring this into my classroom. #20ed215
It has been interesting to see how education has changed so dramatically in the last year or so. Being a teacher has never been so stressful, do I still want to be a teacher? YES of course I do, challenges are apart of life, & I cannot imagine any other career path #20ed215
Relating to a discussion in my #20ed215 course. Teachers are under a ton of pressure due to this pandemic. Parents & students are frustrated with how learning is being conducted. Teachers are people too, take care of yourself too. TLC should be prioritized more than PD.
Teaching/learning online; Give permission, offer protection, reduce/remove policies, & eliminate perfectionism. Some of my college courses have seemed to increase in difficulty & workload since in-person learning almost a year ago. I hope they understand our struggle #20ed215
I agree with you regarding inheriting more responsibility as I aged. Although I feel like my mom, in particular, pressed me about getting good grades so that was on the back burner. I feel like this question is specific & different for every individual #20ed215
When it comes to responsibility for a student's learning, who does it fall on? Here's a new question: Does that responsibility shift between elementary and middle/high school? As I student, I feel like I inherited more responsibility for my learning as I got older. #20ed215
Having used this learning model for the last few years I can express that it can be very nice for those with busy schedules. But I didn't learn nearly as well as I do while learning in-person. It is also very stressful, & my schedule this semester is constantly changing #20ed215
Let’s all remember that a hybrid learning model was never meant for K-12 education. It is not sustainable, has to many moving parts, and places so much stress on educators, kids, and families.
I totally agree Jennifer! I hate learning online, it is so difficult. I recently tested positive for covid, I think I got it from work. It sucks missing out on work, in-person learning, & building relationships with my peers. Wear your mask, #20ed215
#20ed215 mask keep us in school. Building relationships is important to me. I do not want to be online. Practice social distancing, wear your mask, and be respectful.
Being a super teacher in my opinion requires investment in your students first. You are there for them, because you love what you do, & to help these young children succeed in the future! I like your example of Professor Snape from Harry Potter, one of my favs! #20ed215
It is a startling realization that media teachers like Will Schuester from Glee have a negative impact on the public's perception of educators. It was easy to recognize the damage of characters like Snape from Harry Potter. What does it take to really be a super teacher? #20ed215
It's crazy how many articles I have seen related to the struggle of teachers during the pandemic. "You think running a business remotely is challenging? It's trivial compared to what teachers cope with every day." People don't realize that being a teacher isn't easy. #20ed215
@cj_kiddy This was an awesome story to read about and it is so important to provide all students with the tools for success. Regardless of any circumstance, we are all humans, we are equals, #20ed215
@CieloEchanove Hi Cielo! I think it is crazy that there are people teaching that don't put their students first. Being a teacher is more than just lecturing, it is about creating a connection with each individual, it's about preparing them for the future, etc. Nice Tweet! #20ed215
The relationship a teacher shares with their students is important. "Once students' orientations are known, the teacher can structure tasks to take them into account" (TeacherVision). Effective teachers are involved with their students, "you get out what you put in." #20ed215
Update; it has been about 7 months now and things are under control now, however, online learning has proved to be difficult & will never compare to learning in person. #20ed215
It’s been close to 2 months since schools went online and I can imagine that teachers are starting to burn out from all the stress. It’s a good reminder to always take time for yourself as an educator to release the built up stress. #20ed215
I could not agree with this more, personal time is something I never prioritized until recently. I feel way better because I say no to others and use the time for myself. Does anyone else have this issue? #20ed215
Time is often a person’s most precious and valuable asset.
When someone shares this finite resource with you, be sure to show appreciation and gratitude.
And never take for granted someone else’s time.
