The legs example was just to demonstrate that the existence of genetic mutations doesn't mean that general claims are incorrect. OP is correct that there are two sexes which have XX or XY as a general rule.

Female is defined by the body being organised around the function of producing large gametes, not chromosomes. XX is what females typically have and are meant to have, hence why this is a DSD.

Which is exactly why people say that females have XX chromosomes when it isn't technically 100% true.

'female' is defined by the body being organised around the function of producing large gametes.

This definition includes all females.
