I opened Instagram next and got a targeted ad for Karate classes for kids in my city. I never searched for 'karate' on my phone, didn't type anything. And yet Meta somehow knew from their e2e encrypted messaging platform that I might be interested in Karate classes.

How??

I was shown a very specific ad that has left me wondering about the privacy of WhatsApp chats. A frnd shared in our school alumni group about his daughter winning a prize in karate along with a photo + video. I only left an emoji reaction and viewed the photo and the video.
