@markragland This really spoke to me, Mark. This is a compelling story. I've had a few moments similar to this where I knew that either fear was going to win or I was. To achieve something like this is so affirming for what's possible when we make a decision to push through.
This one is near and dear to me, Melissa. I was just writing about the tension I've experienced with exploring this middle path of intentionally not grinding so hard at work and I swear half the people label me as "lazy" and the other half, "privileged." It feels like a no-win. But I'm working to let go and inspire those who are aligned.
@AdamZulawski Love this one, Adam. It beats those complex morning routines and systems that no one can ever follow. Simple = achievable. Achievable = momentum. Momentum = sustainable change.
@DGraciaBeltran Simple is good. I have adopted a very similar routine in my life. And it works because it is simple. Sleep and daily walks can be a solid foundation for clear thinking, stable energy, and reduced stress ...just as you say.
I'm heading to Mexico for 4 months this winter and I intend to take a language immersion program so this is timely. It's interesting to hear it from the opposite perspective - Spanish speakers learning English. I'll be on the other side of this coin - native English speaker learning Spanish. Any tips for me? 😉
I love this metaphor as a way to gain insights about navigating life circumstances and challenges. I think this is brilliant and a fun way to see our challenges in a new light. I especially love the 4 and 5. Setbacks are a normal part of any journey and overcoming them often means getting out of our comfort zone.
Getting clear on my personal mission was one things. Mapping it to my career was another. Here are the main themes of my personal mission and how they're integrated into my work + career ...
@DGraciaBeltran I love how you’re defining “meaning leading to money.” There’s plenty of nuance to pay attention to but generally speaking, it’s doing stuff you care about, for a group that you enjoy helping, that has the desire/ability to reward you for your efforts.
@DGraciaBeltran It certainly didn’t happen overnight but it DID happen through experimentation, letting go, and taking a few bold steps here and there.
@DGraciaBeltran Wow! Some of the most empowering advice I've heard in awhile. Love the simplicity and directness of this message. And so true that life lesson can be found anywhere. This is a great example of that.
@markragland I absolutely love this, Mark. You used a phrase that really struck me ..."Every day is sufficient to astound you." That is such an empowering statement - to realize that we are choosing in every moment to be astounded or not.
@meligosselin33 Burnout seems to be at an all time high and the 4 ways you learned to mitigate it are very practical. Great wisdom for dealing with an issue that's not likely to go away anytime soon.
@MichelleLohrli You get it. We're being programmed all day, every day. And being brutally honest is not most people's idea of fun. However, once we realize we're willing to do what most people aren't, the game can get more interesting.
@AdamZulawski So true, Adam. Once standards start slipping in one area, they tend to affect the rest. The lies we tell ourselves allow this to happen: "Just one more episode and then I'll go to bed" turns into tomorrow's hitting the snooze button and low energy.
