Did you know Miss Moneypenny was not the original name chosen by Ian Fleming?

When the Bond creator sat down to write his first #JamesBond novel, Casino Royale (published 1953), the name he chose for M's devoted secretary was... Miss Pettavel. He quickly realised his blend of fact and fiction was far too close to reality. The name was crossed out in pencil, and a new name was inserted... Miss Moneypenny.

While Fleming never revealed the identities of the individuals he drew upon, many of his ideas came from his time in naval intelligence during #WW2

Miss Kathleen Pettigrew, a trailblazing MI6 woman, was the 'real' Miss Moneypenny. As personal assistant to the wartime MI6 Chief, Stewart Menzies, the loyal 'secretary' received secret correspondence and reports on Fleming's audacious operations. She also accompanied Menzies to early morning meetings with Winston Churchill, and read through decoded German ENIGMA messages from @bletchleypark

Late in life, Kathleen Pettigrew declared:

'I was Miss Moneypenny, but with more power.'

Early estimates of midday to late June 13 look to be spot on, at least with the NOAA/SWPC prediction. Here is their latest model run that captures the two eastward travelling solar storms. As for the south-westward filament launch, I am not so ready to dismiss that particular storm (I will discuss that in a later post). Without running the visualizer yet for the storm launched by Region 4465, the expected G1-level for this set of storms is a good estimate. My thoughts may change after I get those results.

And just like that, as I mentioned yesterday and the day before, we are now likely experiencing the first signs of our incoming coronal hole influences.

You can see the total magnetic field is elevated nearly 3x stronger than normal. The Bz remains north, but if it turns south for an extended period, G1, maybe G2 storming could follow. This could create mid-latitude auroral displays.
