I feel lucky to have been at last night's concert by @doric_quartet in Grinton with @MMilwidskyVln subbing in at incredibly short notice as 1st violin because of illness. Her playing in Beethoven quintet was amazingly assured (even when her music fell off the stand).
Absolutely superb performance of Brahms German Requiem from @SCOmusic tonight, made all the more enjoyable by the lack of the usual excruciating pre-performance welcome chat from a member of the orchestra.
Act IV, on the other hand, was very good, especially viewed from the Upper Circle. (Last time I saw it was on the much shallower stage in Sunderland.) #BRBSwanLake
@exitthelemming I don't know if you generally watch your own progs, but if you saw ACGAS S3E5, I imagine you'll have twitched a little at the BR totem station signs on such prominent display.
It's an historical curiosity dating from Russell's brief idealist phase (1897): he attempts (badly) to argue that Kant was half-right: neutral geometry (what Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometry have in common) is a priori, but which of the two is correct is empirical. 2/2
This was so moving. Spontaneously stopped off at the London Bridge station organ to play a couple of pieces for the Queen. This lovely security guard, Marcella, asked if I could play Lascia ch'io pianga. Turns out she trained as a singer! ❤️😭
Pleased I bumped into @ThatTimWalker, so I could tell him how much I enjoyed Bloody Difficult Woman. Dacre in particular is a gift to comedy, superbly realized by Andrew Woodall. @BDWplay
@acgrayling Before you retweeted this, should you perhaps have checked whether the quotation was accurate, or whether it e.g. left out a qualifying phrase?
