He received the Turing Award aka “Nobel Prize of computer science” with Edward Feigenbaum for pioneering large scale AI systems and demonstrating their practical value. His research helped computers recognise continuous speech, rather than just isolated words.

People should read how the US-UK relationship evolved over the 'long' 19th century. The 'handover' was hardly smooth. All the WASP commonality across the 'lake' was not enough to stop the Brits from burning down the White House to half a century later helping the US South in its secession attempt.

All Anglo-American "natural ally" rhetoric is anachronistic, just like Judeo-Christian etc is. US was actually much closer to France first. It was only when the pressure from a unified Germany and expanding Russia came too close to home/empire did the UK gradually bandwagon with US after first trying to sabotage it.

In fact as late as the interwar period, the US had plans ready to invade Canada if need be. The full 'harmonisation' of UK's foreign policy though had to wait till the 1956 Suez crisis.

Two books are worth reading here:

1. Kori Schake's "Safe Passage: The Transition from British to American Hegemony"

2. Duncan Campbell's "Unlikely Allies: Britain, America and the Victorian Beginnings of the Special Relationship."

The US-India relationship will, in part, depend on US sense of vulnerability w.r.t. China. That, even today, is not acutely felt in DC. In fact one of the reasons the RMB has been kept relatively undervalued is not just old-fashioned mercantilism, but also to lull the United States' sense of danger. It is only by the early 2030s, when the proverbial material hits the fan as China rapidly closes on US GDP in hard currency terms too, that I suspect US will really feel the heat. That or Taiwan: while very difficult to predict, I suspect China is not in a hurry to force the Taiwan issue.

Mt Rushmore, one of US' most important heritage spots, was built by destroying a sacred shrine for some Native American tribes. They still refuse to return it to them to this day.

They aren't concerned about nature or tribes, but what threatens their economic interests.

I sort of will blame us Hindus for it. ISCKON is abrahamizing Hinduism but ISCKON attracts that class of Hindus who are affluent. Ask yourself why? Meat contributes 10 to 100 times CO2 gas as compared to cereals fruits and vegetables. The climate debate is silent about western food which contributes 1/3 of total pollution of the world. If Indians substitute meat for the 190kg per head per annum farm products India will need 6 times the agricultural land it has to produce meat. There will be no India.
